TL;DR (because I canāt help myself and I wrote too much): Float8 is fantastic. Great prices/deals, wonderful people, and an amazing floating experience.
I floated here yesterday. It was not my first time floating but first time at Float8. Iāve been interested in floating since I read about it in a book when I was around 12 and I floated for the first time in my 20ās. That experience was absolutely amazing but life happened, I left South FL and didnāt float again for a couple years. Sadly, I didnāt know the name of the first place I floated so I went to another place. It was very expensive and I had a mediocre experience there. Iām a single mom and I couldnāt afford to pay over $100 to float so I just let it go and forgot about it. Then I saw the Float8 ad on YouTube with Joe Rogan (unfortunate choice of spokesperson). I was initially put off by that but then I saw the ad a few more times and the price they offered was so good so I finally clicked on it to check it out. I read a lot of their articles, the FAQs, etc. but I still had some reservations because of my last experience so I sent a rather long email to customer service. I got a quick response from Matt, who put my mind at ease and convinced me to give it a try.
The place is beautiful and clean. The person who helped me, (I think it was Mary Jane), was very sweet and helpful. I booked an orb because I had only ever floated in an orb before. But when I got there, they had a cabin available and I was given a chance to look at both and choose. I chose to try out the cabin because it was new and it looked super cool. They provide everything you need in the room, including a shower. Other places Iāve floated had showers separate from the floatation tanks. I liked this much better; itās more convenient and comfortable. My floating experience was fantastic. The cabin was so awesome. One of my biggest concerns was about light; at the last place I floated, a thin sliver of light entered the orb and I felt like that ruined the experience. This was definitely not a problem here. They have a light inside the tank that you can turn off with a touch of a button and youre plunged into total darkness. I really love that. They also have music that you can keep on or turn off as you wish. I chose to turn it off immediately because I like to have the full sensory deprivation experience. At the end of your float, they donāt turn on the light but just play some soft music. I really appreciate that, as other places Iāve floated have turned the lights on. I was able to feel my way to the button to turn the light on myself. Then they give you plenty of time to shower and get dressed, with nobody knocking on the door or interrupting at all. Overall this was a fantastic experience. The float ended so fast for me and I just wished it would never end. I could have stayed in there all day!
I live with a bundle of mental health issues, including PTSD, bipolar disorder, and severe anxiety. Iām also an addict in recovery, sober just over a year. I had heard about the benefits of floating for mental health issues before and there was a post on the Float8 site about it. Itās a great feeling to just block out all external stimuli and just be able to relax. After the float, I felt like I was walking on clouds. I also have severe insomnia. Last night, I slept a solid 10 hours without waking up once. I canāt even remember the last time I slept that much and that well. I didnāt even take my anxiety meds yesterday because I felt so relaxed. Those things are amazing for me. I do believe regular floating can help with myriad issues.
In my opinion, Float8 is the best place to float in South Florida, as someone who has floated at 3 places in the area. I am so thrilled I found this place. I just purchased 3 more floats (their Black Friday deal was too good to pass up) and I canāt wait to float again! Whether youāre a regular floater or never floated before, I highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit: Changed the review to a more reasonable rating. I still believe that changing the expiration time on membership credits was uncalled for hence the missing star, but I overreacted in writing this. Float8 is excellent and they are a 5/5 float center. I'm leaving this up so that their excellent communication shows below.
I have had a membership with float8 for over 2 years. I have no complaints in regards to the facility or the staff. floating here is excellent and meditative.
I am leaving a negative review due to the membership policy changes. My monthly fee went up $10. That's not a big deal, they did send an email about it. I missed the email, and only noticed the change a few months later. Not a huge issue.
The problem I have is with the way float credits have changed. Previously, they lasted for a full year. I liked that a lot. It's a big part of why I signed up for membership--I didn't feel rushed to book a float. I get tattooed often, I travel a lot, I'm busy frequently.
So I didn't float often for a while. then, the policy changed. Now, membership credits last only 90 days. So I had credits from a year ago expiring soon, and several new credits expiring soon. I had gotten freshly tattooed...
The credits were extended, but my opinion of the company has soured. On top of this change, they now ask for tips with a little tip stand. I'm already paying $70 per float credit. If I float with my wife, that's $140, and I'm expected to tip $28? That's $168 before taxes. Why not just pay the staff more?
I have credits expiring this week, and I can't make it. This whole situation has caused me so much stress that the floats do not make up for. It's sad, because I love float8 and I loved floating. It's such a shame corporate greed has taken over...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHearing about the discounted intro bundle offer was what drew me to try out a float. I have previous experience with meditation & have always wanted to experience a sensory deprivation tank. It's a great experience, I personally recommend to my friends that you don't go in expecting something -- just experience what your mind does, even if it's racing through thoughts! You'll wear it out eventually & settle in.
I've visited 3 times so far, each time the rooms were well-prepped and the staff are always laidback yet professional (very fitting for this type of establishment). Helpful to mention that over the phone they'll tell you exactly how you should prepare for your 1st visit & in-person they'll give you a proper orientation on how your float session will go to avoid any confusion. 2nd visit and after, it's just a quick greeting & appt confirmation so that you can pretty much walk right in to your booking (which I greatly appreciate the efficiency of).
It's a smooth experience from the moment you park in the lot to the moment you walk out of the building post-float. I wish I could afford to do it more often! I will definitely return any time that I can & it's great that you have the option to purchase float sessions for others, it can make for an...
