Laura Hernandez at True Colonics is the ultimate professional in every way. Compassionate, concerned flexible, and as a physician I see these as such essential qualities and are becoming more and more rare in health care in general. I have chosen to use her as she is the expert in this area, and I have used others. She trained under a gastroenterologist for two years. She knows the protocols for how to use lavage prior to colonoscopy, and having to repeat colonoscopy now due to an oral prep procedure I followed not being adequate, I learned about this process and specifically about Laura Hernandez on my own. My gastroenterologist has allowed me to do so and I have already used Ms. Hernandez once first to make sure I was familiar with her office, the the techniques and system. She uses an open system where you have 100% complete privacy, are draped, and are in a spa like room that is beautiful and quiet. All waste materials are constantly and automatically and directly removed into a sewage line and the entire process is extremely sanitary, clean and exceptional. She has a front desk person named Cassie who is also very well versed in many of these aspects, as well as being vegan and understanding holistic medicine. Although some in the Gastroenterology community might not agree or understand the benefits, my having IBS-C (irritable bowel with constipation) have found it personally exceptionally helpful and safe as I am doing this with a true expert. Only has one type of system, most places offer closed & open. Lady was not informative of the process and speaking Spanish to coworkers in front of you (very rude) as I’m not a Spanish speaking person. I was given a brief description of services that took about 1 minute I didn’t feel comfortable since what was described to me was very Brief. I wanted to cancel my appointment due to the lack of knowledge and the lack of system type they didn’t have, when I informed the lady of this she said she would have to charge me full price anyways and was very rude telling me that I’m doing harm on a small business I then said if your going to charge full price for a service I didn’t use then I might as well use the service..... she refused service at that point and still charged full price. I’m disgusted with her attitude and even the mere fact That she wasn’t willing to work anything out and she even threatened to call the cops to “see who’s wrong and who’s right” I had nothing but respect for this lady, she was very uneducated on the full colonic process and also very rude please don’t waste your time, this is a low budget center with little privacy as the walls at the top are open so you can see and hear into the next persons session. I was extremely nervous because I went to another place 20 years or so ago on Hallandale Beach Blvd and it was EXTREMELY painful! I explained this to Laura and she informed me that it was probably a closed system (meaning there’s only one hose that’s used instead of two. Further explaining, with one hose, the therapist is in the room with you the entire time turning on the water, turning off the water and then massaging your stomach to excrete the fecal matter. With the system at True Colonic, there are two hoses and it is not necessary to have the therapist in with you the entire time. Also….. virtually no pain unlike the closed system which was extremely uncomfortable especially if you are a gassy person like I am). Laura was amazing!
