Edit in response to owner's response: I am most definitely in the wrong place as I am not of Chinese ethnicity. As mentioned below, I came in with a friend of mine who happens to be Chinese, and our experiences were like night and day. He told me his masseuse was very engaging in conversation and went very hard on his body, giving him a satisfying massage. My masseuse did not speak a word to me, and took a phone call for 10 minutes during my massage with no apology, notice, or compensation. I am unsure as to why you are comparing your parlor to a hotel... Is this to justify the tension when tipping? How are they comparable in this context? The Health Bureau being across the street doesn't change the sickness I experienced both times I visited your establishment, nor does it mean your hygiene is up to standard. That's like saying a building can't burn down just because it's next to a fire department. To bring up discrimination while having your entire business model revolve around the very concept is purely delusional... I'm glad we both can at least agree that this is funny. Original review: My experiences at this massage parlor have been mixed, to say the least. While the massages themselves were satisfactory on both occasions I visited, unfortunately, I fell ill shortly after each visit, experiencing fever and sickness for at least a week. This pattern has led me to question the hygiene standards or practices within the establishment. Another concerning aspect of my visits was the attitude towards tipping. The staff visibly became upset when I didn't tip what they considered to be a satisfactory amount. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere and left me feeling pressured to over-tip for services rendered. Additionally, I couldn't help but notice a disparity in treatment based on ethnicity. I accompanied a Chinese-American friend on both visits, and the differences in service were glaringly obvious. While I didn't take it personally, it's disappointing to see such discrimination in customer service. Overall, while the massages were enjoyable, the negative aspects of my experiences outweigh the positives. Until issues regarding cleanliness, tipping practices, and equal treatment of all customers are addressed, I cannot recommend this...

This Place is MY FAVORITE! if your not a regular you wont understand. When i first started going i wasnt sure what to expect tbh , i was comfy with both male and female , but i wanted harder pressure so i switched to male , eventually i found my right person after a few visits , hes awesome , very detailed , and takes great care of the customers. They work as a team at shanti. The relief i felt after my first massage deserves every tip plus more if i can share. Ive gone to many other places and spent easy over 100$ for services nowhere near as good. I usually do 1hr -50$ Plus tip 20$ , theres a clear sign that says TIPS depending on pressure , soft pressure 10$ medium 15$ hard 20$ regardless of the tip for 70$ iam more than satisfied , i leave relieved and smiling excited to come back. I usually go every 2 weeks. I call ahead of time and plan my session , their punctual and very organized. I invite all my friends to visit and they all enjoy it. Im a regular here for 4years now and im glad a friend of mine shared this place with me. Some of their english may not be great but easy to communicate with stating pressure , if you feel its too soft just ask for medium or hard , if u want harder ask for male. For me the pressure isnt all that. They know the body well and can help release some tension. If you enjoy that massage make sure to ask for their name so u can stick with that person.
