Pajun is a Korean pancake (some even call it a pizza). Yes, from a perspective, it is just batter with eggs, green onions, scallions, soy sauce, and mixed seafood. It is comfort food for games nights and binge watching, but the search for a perfect savory, crispy, golden (outside) and yet tender on the inside Pajun is a lifelong odyssey.
It is Labor Day 2024 (weekend). At my home it is time to binge watch and discuss movies (TV Series). This Labor Day we chose the new miniseries, Shogun, based on James Clavell’s historical fiction novel on 17th century Japan. Needless to say, Shogun (one of the best miniseries in recent years), end of summer, talk about “Eightfold Fence” and life of Samurais, made us crave for Yakatori.
I set out for Main Street, Fort Lee (NJ) to the one spot known for their Yakitori. Sadly, that place (still exists) has stopped doing Yakitori. But I was committed to Main Steet (basically I had found parking). So while the initial intent was Japanese Yakatori, I quickly repurposed the mission to take home Korean Pajun (equally non messy party food). By sheer happenstance, something unplanned enabled me the joy of a perfect Pajun. The crispiest, the savoriest, Pajun I have ever had.
I also got some Uguji Tang (Short rib soup with radish and cabbage). Watching Shogun, sipping Uguji Tang, eating Pajun, and debating Eightfold Fence; My Labor Day 2024.
Before I forget, the place for awesome Pajun and Uguji Tang is Yeajip (235 Main St Fort Lee, NJ). I found out after I picked up the food that they have their own...
Read moreThis is nothing to do with the food, but i will definitely say i was extremely disappointed with how they handle handicap spaces in their parking lot. My grandfather has a handicap tag and limps when he walks, we got to the parking lot and the handicap spots was blocked off by what I assume is a customers car and the owners car.
We let the staff inside know about the parking situation and instead of taking ownership (since one of the cars is literally the restaurant owners), they made excuses for even the random car saying maybe they were just temporarily parking there to grab something. Either way, it was very off-putting that they didnt address or attempt to resolve the situation with either cars (the owners car did not budge even after we finished our dinner). It's funny cause they even have a huge tow sign in front but I guess they don't utilize it.
The food was fine (bbq was better than their myuns), but after notifying them about the parking, their service was very short and awkward with us (not rude but just...

When the cashier handed me the slip for signature, she did not include the itemized receipt so I could not reference the total amount before signing. It was only when I manually added 20% (on top of the one she snuck in) that I realized the bill was too high. So, I asked for the itemized receipt just to double check. Without prompting the cashier or telling her why I needed the receipt, she immediately offered me the 20% tip back in cash. She told me she was confused and gave me a very hushed and disingenuous apology. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because it all happened so quickly and I still left a tip because the servers were good. However, upon reflection, I now realize the cashier did it intentionally. Otherwise she wouldn’t have been so quick to give me the tip in cash when I simply asked to see the receipt. Needless to say, I will never return to...
