This is easily the nicest gun range in Charlotte and surrounding areas. The staff is very friendly and helpful, there is a nice safety briefing for first time shooters, and don't even get me started on the facility.
The lanes are very modern. There is a touchscreen target return system that you can enter in any distance you want and the target will go there automatically. The lanes are kept at the perfect temperature and the acoustic isolation is much better than I've experienced at other indoor shooting ranges. They actually let you shoot rifles in the indoor ranges! Additionally, there are some cool sci-fi simulation projector thingys on some of the lanes where you can run real-life scenarios (shoot or don't shoot, hostage situations, etc) with live ammo. I've got to check that out next time I go.
The whole building is spacious and well appointed. It even smells really nice in there. It doesn't feel like you're walking into an old pawn shop or something when you walk in. It's like an IKEA almost. They have quite a few interesting guns there for sale, and quite a few for rent as well. In the back, there are tons of free lockers for keeping your wallet, keys, jackets, etc safe while you're shooting.
The people are overly nice. They are not at all intimidating like they can be at other shooting ranges. Don't get me wrong, I like guns. I own several, but I pretty much just like target shooting. I've been to some before where everyone working there is either some elitist gun snob or some super political prepper type, and I'm definitely not comfortable around those kinds of people. The guys at The Range at Ballantyne are just regular guys that you'll actually enjoy interacting with.
The prices seemed competitive with other ranges in the area. Even if they ended up being more expensive than the other guys, I'd probably still come here because they are just that...
Read moreI would like to respond to the Review as left recently by Svetlana Efremova, regarding the incident as mentioned. I was a witness at the time of the incident. First of all the reprimand of Ms. Efremova was warranted. However the manner and to the degree the reprimand was done was unwarranted and unprofessional by the Range Officer at the time of the incident. The reprimand was excessive, overdone, overly emotional, and rant went on way to long. Swear words and foul language was use in mixed company in the room and directed at Ms. Efremova. Basically it was an emotional knee jerk reaction on the part of the Range Officer present. Handling of incidents of this nature requires a certain degree of professionalism. In my view this reaction lacked professionalism. Also, swearing and cussing out of a Lady in Public is unacceptable regardless of the circumstances. The employee in question needs to learn how to control his emotions in a stressful environment. Perhaps some training of the stall in situations of this nature are in order.
Update 3/15/23 Bryan. In regards to your recent responce to my review. It appears that you have not learned anything from this. In essence you continue to insult your customer. It appears from other reviews you have a habbit of calling your customers who give negative reviews liars as in essense you refered to me. I know curse words were used. Collin your emplyee confirmed this twice. So I don't know what video you were watching. As far as my actions you indicated I needed to take control. That was the job of the Range Officer. He did not do this in an appropriate and professional manner. Again. I beliveve that additional training of the officer in question is warranted in order to handle situations like this without flying off the handle and in a professional manner. Elsewise, this may happen again to another one of...
Read moreFacility is very clean, it's up to date with the latest state of the art technology and the staff is great as well BUT, there are a couple of negatives I would like to point out... 1st, the target hangers. If you shoot one by accident, they'll charge you $6 and you own it. I think that's over doing it. It's a gun range and people, especially beginners, will accidentally hit the plastic hanger, that's the nature of the beast this facility is in. If the facility is worried about having to buy plastic hangers all the time, then use cardboard or masking tape like most gun ranges use. 2nd, having to wait in 2 different lines...we arrived when there was no one there...yet. The first line we had our identities checked, then credit card info, handed the plastic target hanger and filled out and signed the waiver (all routine). Then it seemed like a bus load of people showed up and it got REAL busy. We then had to watch a 10 min video, (routine for first time vistiors) and once that was done we had to wait in a different line but by this time, that "bus load" of people were already ahead of us! One staff member taking care of 15+ people? They should of had 2 or even 3 staff members taking care of customers at that point. I was irritated with this because we arrived before ANY of these people and we were the last to get our lanes. Not cool. Ok, moving on now, the staff denied my reloaded ammunition. Why? I bought it at a facility that professionally reloads shells and I've fired off hundreds of these in the past with maybe 5 that didn't fire and to top it off, they were not in the original packaging. I had put them all in an ammunition plastic box thats MADE for ammunition. I'm sorry but, I am not going to carry a bucket of 500 bullets into the store! So, that being said, until they lighten up on their rules of their precious million dollar facility, I'll be taking my...
