BUYERS BEWARE: BE WARNED AND BE CAREFUL!! I will try to make my long story short. Elijah, manager or owner, whatever title he holds has the character of a USED CAR SALESPERSON. Twice Ive encountered him over the past few years. When I moved to Fort Myers in 2020 I went to his gym to request a cancellation and was willing to pay all and any fees required. Idk, if his gym suffers a penalty or what, but he kept me there for over an hour trying to persuade me not to cancel. Finally got it done, If memory serves me correctly he told me i had to contact the anytime fitness i signed up with after keeping me there all that time. Fast forward to Nov 2023, I now have a Tivity/Health membership which allows me to go to any participating provider. I went during business hours, Elijah opened the door and with a used car salesy-guy grin, said how can i help you, I asked if his gym was accepting Tivity members, Elijah blatantly said no, long story short…I called the customer service number in which they said, Elijah’s Anytime Fitness is absolutely a particpating provider, and should not deny me entry, as Tivity pays them for their members. I go back to the gym with the customer service rep on the phone, & Elijah gives me the same excuse apparently he gives to everyone else, he is busy and with a customer, I will have to wait 30 min.
Idk what the world is coming to but everybody is out for the dollar and if you aren’t giving it to them they aren’t going to help you. I could feel his sleezy lie when he told me, hence why i called the customer service number. Only to come on google reviews tonight and see so many people have encountered and have had a similar experience. How they are still in business or he is still employed there is beyond me.
Again consider yourself warned, if you are signing up and are going to give them the money they want, you probably will not have any issues. However, if you think you may cancel your membership, your 7 day trial, or have a tivity membership, do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. Read moreI was recently charged for a membership I did not want. I did the 7 day free trial and made sure I went in on the last day to cancel it. I started it March 22 and came back March 29 to cancel my membership which is Monday-Monday because they are closed on weekends or I would have done it sooner. I have gone in multiple times try and get this resolved but have received no satisfaction. I just went in today again to get this resolved after being nice about it for over two weeks and he disrespected me in front of the whole gym when he could've handled it privately. And after trying multiple times to contact him in person, over the phone and email he had the audacity to say he does not have time to check his email or phone calls because he is booked up on training sessions. Maybe he should make time or not over book his schedule. He also had the audacity to say I came in a day after my trial was up. This was not true I do not play around with my money especially 104 dollars when I am a college student living pay check to paycheck! Also went in physically multiple times and I had to speak to him while he was training people or come back when he would be working WHILE he was training people and today I had to wait 30 minutes until he was done. Not good customer service very disrespectful and unprofessional. Do not do the free trial unless you know you will be getting the membership because if you check google reviews there are multiple people that are going through or have gone through the same thing as me. At the beginning of November they were having a 30 day free trial. I signed up for it but a couple of weeks in, I ran into a financial situation and would not be able to afford the monthly payment. A week and a half before my trail was over I tried contacting the gym to cancel so my card did not get charged. After calling many times, leaving many voicemails, and writing several facebook messages, it took me over a week to get in touch with someone. The owner told me he'd take care of it and I would not be charged. I was charged. It took me over 2 weeks to get in touch with him again. I had to go into the gym in person 5 times in addition to calling many times to finally get in contact to make sure my account was cancelled. He told me he issued a refund but I was double charged instead. It took me several weeks to finally get in contact with him again to get a refund for both charges and he told me he contacted corporate about getting me a check on Dec 20th and it would take 10 business days. IT IS NOW FEBRUARY AND I HAVE RECEIVED NO PAYMENT AND HE WILL NOT ANSWER MY CALLS, VOICEMAILS, OR FACEBOOK MESSAGES. I contacted the billing department and was told that he never issued a refund to my credit card like he had said and there was no record of him contacting corporate either.
