Affordable Computers — Local services in Fort Oglethorpe

Good for the purchase of my computer and bad for after service service, they aren't truthfull. Well the story starts back at the end of last year. My Korean lap top computer with a camera and windows 7. Well Windows 7 stopped supporting its self so I had to up grade to windows 10. So in wanting to keep the business on the neighbor hood, I asked Mappy where the nearest computer shop was. Got it and went there. They told me my computer would not handle windows 10 and that I would have get a bigger one. Well I did not have the money, but they had a really good deal on a new Dell that would more than handle W-10. But, they would not let me do a deposit or use lay away, explaining they were only going to be sold only on a cash and carry. Just for kicks and giggles I asked if when I bought my new computer they could clean out my old computer and enable it with Skype which was already in stalled in it. I was told no problem, no cost. Well along come March first had the money. to cash out my new computer. My greeting there was that the last one had just been taken. Well disappointed but still eager to get on with buying a new computer, we negotiated and settled on a used really big Dell that would take W-10, but did not have a camera. There were new employees there. When I presented my old Korean computer to get my skype working I was told, “no problem, that would cost $126.” Well so much for that promise. The new people must have been new owners, so very disappointed, I packed up my Old and new computer. Oh, I bought a 25’ cable to hook up my new computer to Jeff's smart TV, $26 worth.

Last month my power cable for the new computer broke. I took it back to see if I could get a new one on under the guarantee. They replaced it, but seeming begrudgingly. I made an inquiry as to what it would cost to get Skype going on my old computer and they stood with their expensive fix. I was not happy, I told them they were not honest and that. I would never come back.”

I did not get to use my smart TV cable till last month, to show my family where I had been in the world on Google Earth, big style.

Well I found my computer with the smart tv cable pulled out this morning. Looking closer\ the connector sheath was still in my computer and I was looking at the cable wire tip contacts. I had to go by the shop on other errands, so I took the cable to the “computer” shop, showed them the cable and told them what happened. They asked for my name to verify the purchase. The guy whispered to a white guy employee, that guy looked at the computer, raised his head to me and very politely said, “sir you are going to have to leave the shop, NOW.” I could not believe my ears so asked, “Pardon me.” He repeated and began giving me the shoe shoe hand signs. Geez, it suddenly turned into a situation like I was a guy with a bomb. So I left. But not before asking each person in there if they were proud of them selves. Then called them a bag of rats, and graciously vacated the premises....

Well here goes. Took my computer to Geek Squad Best But HWY 153 Chattanooga, TN. on March 4, 2013, still have not gotten computer back from Seek Squad. They try to seek out other problems and do not fix your problem. Called the geeks about my computer and the said that the hard drive was no good and they would not be able to fix it themselves. Said they could not get the hard drive to start up so they could download saved files to another drive before loading back my Windows software. Said they could send off my hard drive to some other company to get info off hard drive and the cost would start at $250.00 and could go as high as $1,200.00 or more. I said no I will just come and pick up the hard drive and then they could finish fixing my computer. Had two hard drives in computer.

So looked in phone book and found Affordable Computers on HWY 58 Chattanooga, TN. and talked with Charlie. He said to bring in the hard drive and he would see what he could do. Well it only took 15 minutes and Charlie had the hard drive up and running, and WOW there were all my files. The cost was less than the Original cost Meek Squad was charging to fix my computer. Thanks Charlie. Everyone was so professional at Affordable Computers and full of knowledge. They now have a new client.

I was in need of a new computer and was going to purchase it from Best Buy from their web site. They did not have what I needed in the store. Instead I let Charlie build me a custom computer and once again the job was done on time, and everything went smoothly.

I completely recommend these guys at Affordable Computers and you should use them also.

Up date from Week Squad. They still have not finished my computer as of today March 18, 2013. I have called several times with all sorts of answers, and told will be ready the next day. Newest is they do not think my computer is worth saving, but they will try to save the computer. By the way at the same time took my parents computer for Peek Squad to just do a simple system / hard drive clean up, and have not gotten their computer back yet either. Once again not sure if they can fix parents computer either. My computer was a little over ten years old a Sony, but my parents computer will only be two years old April 4th of this year. Guess what it was purchased at Best Buy with the added protection to cover it for two years from Beek Squad.

Update 1: Standing By Their Word – True Customer Care! Now, I believe in full transparency. There was a time, a while back, when a laptop repair didn't go as smoothly as planned. My Lenovo gaming laptop had a keyboard issue, and initially, there were communication hiccups and even a mishap with some screws that led to a punctured screen. It was a frustrating situation at the time.

However, this is where the true character of this business shines. The owner and staff immediately stepped in, apologized sincerely, and corrected every single issue and concern. They went above and beyond, even replacing the screen with a better refresh rate monitor. This immediate, proactive resolution solidified my trust and commitment to them.
