They claim to be the cheapest and actually their prices are good, at the expense of quality and variety of goods. Additionally, their quality is cheaper than their prices. Cleanliness and order may occasionally suffer. Aldi is the only place I have ever been where you can find a HALF banana for sale. If you shop the deals and promotions of most regular groceries, you shall save more than you can possibly think on items like paper, soap, detergent, even canned goods and other small things. Whenever I have bought prepackaged "fresh" produce, like tomatoes or onions, has always been old and ended up in the trashcan. You can do better.
Sep 2024 update: I am visiting Aldi regularly, for certain items that are reasonable quality at lower than elsewhere prices. My environmental and other concerns remain, for the most part. Cheap non recyclable packaging for their private name items, and if you want a bag at check out you have to pay extra for it. Their current ad is showing a happy face claiming she went down from $400 every two weeks to $400 per month. True, if you compare with the top notch groceries and disregard quality. Wanna go down to $300 a month and at the same time better quality? A little bit complicated, but I'm doing it: I'm shopping around. It is unbelievable how much you can save by following the regular grocery chains' promotions, special offers, coupons, you name it. Lately I am regularly shopping at Aldi only certain items. Whenever I bought prepackaged fresh veggies, they ended up in the trash can. But fresh bulk produce is generally good, especially if you consider that freshness "accidents" will also happen to high end groceries, cheese and fresh meat are just as good as everywhere else usually at lower prices, the same statement applying to certain bakery items. They have expanded their inventory, like now they are carrying roast beef, actually at a rock bottom price. Just taste it, and you'll know the reason why. Who knows, maybe in the foreseeable future they will also discover Worcestershire sauce. There is also one more plus I have to give them: For the last three years, I see the same people working in my hometown Aldi, nearly always smiling, polite, hard working and helpful, all at the same time. So I can only guess Aldi are a good employer. One...
Read moreI left a detailed review of the Brainerd Rd Aldi Store and I will reiterate it here for the Fort Oglethorpe Aldi... Aldi is a fabulous store because of 1) AMAZING prices and I do mean amazing (try it and just see how cheap you can shop, seriously!) 2) they have organic produce and good ingredients (no high fructose syrup and trans fatty acids in Aldi brands and others) and they have organic equivalents for a lot of items. I don't always buy organic but I try...3) they have gluten-free foods if you need to eat gluten-free (I have a gluten-free friend who must eat this way and she shops for her family at Aldi also) and 4) the staff is friendly... super fast at ringing one up and friendly and finally 5) it is a german-based company that pays its employees very well, treats the employees well. This matters to me! The way an employer treats their employees filters down to the consumer too. Do your wallet and your family a favor and give Aldi a try. I promise you will be as...
