We've been vacationing in the Ft Pierce area since '99 and were lucky enough to find Spunky several years ago when he was down the street at his old location & it's become an annual visit for us. The employees are friendly, the shop is spotless and has a great selection of clothing AND surfboards. Spunkys has managed to successfully resist the trend of most shops to transition into a "surf lifestyle" shop where you find a huge room full of clothing, stickers, and 3 old surfboards in the back of the shop. Locally owned , supporting local causes, and proving a wealth of information (especially if you're lucky enough to catch Spunky there himself) about the local surf scene. I was there 10 days ago and saw no evidence of "mold on the sidewalk". Yes, masks are required and provided at the entrance along with hand sanitizer. While I personally doubt the effectiveness of most masks, I DO respect their right as a business owner to require PPE and certainly appreciate the steps they're taking to keep their employees and customers as safe as possible. Thanks Spunky & we'll see you...
Read moreNot from Ft Pierce, but had some questions about powered boards. Axel was so helpful and honest that the board I was looking at was more expensive and not a perfect fit for what I was looking for. After a few weeks I felt confident in my selection and called him up. I took him up on the offer to visit him at the shop which was 2 hours away from me and he continue to teach me about the various boards. Once again, no pressure. I ended up buying two Sipaboards and couldn't be happier with them. We spent the day on the lake and my kids couldn't be happier! Amazing experience and we will be sure to visit the...
Read moreWow after reading the reviews, and how great the service is I feel bad writing this review. We (my husband daughter and I ) went to Spunkys on Sunday May 7th and was not greet by any sales person. There was one person behind the counter and no one in the store. My daughter was looking for a pair of rainbow sandals. There was a sizing display on the floor with the rainbow sandals. She found her size, so I proceeded to ask the guy if they were in the back and my response was we don’t really have any of those anymore. So then why is the display there? That was all the help we received. I try to shop locally and really was disappointed. However we did find a pair on the rack on our own and purchased them without even as much as a thank you. I guess we were there...
