Prior to this review, I read other reviews to see if customers were experiencing the same issues at this location, which I just experienced. “Targeting” I’m partially at fault here; However, today’s employees were intentionally targeting me, to gain a reaction.
Approximately one week ago I was approached by an employee, who wasn’t present today, because I was talking on my cell phone. I was tough on her due to witnessing customer after customer utilizing their phone’s via Bluetooth earpieces, without recourse. I was admittedly at fault.
Today I was working out at the back of the gym, when I received a phone call. I ran to the corner and knelt down to answer because it was cover number from the West Palm Beach courts, so I wouldn’t know the call back number. The call would have taken less than 30 secs. Staff immediately approached me, interrupting my conversation, then asked me to move to the front of the business. Again, based off gym rules, I was at fault.
With that said I watched 3 different persons, two on Bluetooth/one on a physical phone having extended conversations, on the gym floor (today), with multiple employees walking around cleaning machines. I was angered, but kept it to myself.
Shortly following, I went to the timed workout zone to complete 10 sets of biceps. There were approximately 20 customers in the gym, zero were in the timed workout zone. Within 60 secs, staff approached and advised if I didn’t workout between green light red light then I needed to leave the area and return to the main floor. Recognizing the staff was trying to gain a reaction out of me, I calmly explained that another customer was using the main bicep machine so I came here to use this one. She reiterated her initial direction.
Let it be noted that I’ve witnessed customers consistently use the time workout area without following the green light red light rule.
I removed myself from the timed workout area and videoed the current status of the gym, so I could make a formal complaint. Staff immediately confronted me stating videoing and taking photos are a violation of gym rules, which is true; However, was unknown to me at that time. I became verbally upset towards the staff because this was clearly a game to them.
Let it be noted that I’ve witness customers consistently video themselves and taking selfies while working out.
I went and finished my workout, then started to walk out the front doors. All staff, except the male trainer, who was on the floor training a customer, made sure to sarcastically tell me to “Have a great day.”
I’m wrong for getting upset with staff because two wrongs definitely don’t make a right, but their intentions to antagonize me are very clear.
I have video, from inside the gym, at the time of this incident. It shows present customers and no one being inside the timed workout area. I get it’s a “rule”, but it’s also about making a judgement call and not intentionally harassing the customers.
I’ve been with Planet Fitness for several years. No problems. I move to this location and now I’m experiencing...
Read moreWhen I came in to sign up for the membership, I brought both of my daughters (16 & 12). My older daughter signed up for the summer pass, but since my 12 year old was too young to join, I was hesitant about signing up. I asked the staff member if I signed up, would my 12 year old be allowed to sit at the tables in the front of the gym. I was given an emphatic YES, of course!, so I signed up.
I came in for my 3rd visit, and brought my 12 year old for the first time. The staff member (dismissively) approached me and informed me that my daughter cannot sit at the table because it's against corporate rules.
I have consistently watched some people work out barefoot and some people video while working out, however NO ONE approaches them. When I questioned why I was told "We only address things as we see them." I literally pointed out people on the treadmills videoing, and the staff did NOTHING. So, how is this appropriate? They were dismissive of my attempt at conversation about the situation, and did nothing to remedy the corporate rules that OTHERS were breaking.
Why do rules not apply to everyone, and why do they get to change the rules AFTER I signed up? Had I known my 12 year old couldn't be here, my 16 year old and I would have never signed up, and we would have never had her boyfriend join this gym, either. I feel like I was manipulated into joining and I've just been wasting my time here, if I can't bring my 12 year old with me. I am a single mother, so if she can't come, neither can I.
Edit: Your staff blatantly mislead me to get me to sign up for your club, they refused to enforce any other corporate rule, and you ignored every other issue I brought up in my review (and email to corporate), yet you have the audacity to offer me a hydromassage - that I already get for free, since I'm a black card member???? Read moreI have personally had a fantastic experience with planet fitness. I got my membership when I was trying to rehabilitate a broken left wrist. So I started very slow by making a point to go to the gym for the hydro massage bed and massage chair. Then for a self-confidence booster I started adding tanning to my experience. After a couple of weeks I started feeling a lot better. I've slowly worked into making time for training with weights twice a week. I have personal issues seeing it, but friends and people close to me say they love seeing my results. All I know is that work has gotten a lot easier. My job is very physically demanding and my goals were just to lead a healthier happier life. It feels good to get compliments on the way I look. I'm a black card member and it's very fortunate to be able to walk in any planet fitness and feel right at home. Every planet fitness I've been to in the treasure Coast is better than the last one and the first one was great. Everyone is courteous and machines are clean, the facility is always well kept smells good and just a general pleasure to be around a higher standard of living. I haven't figured out exactly how the promotions work yet, I've personally brought two friends to planet fitness to join. They've advertised that they promote discounts when you have referred a friend, but I keep getting blown off every time I bring someone up to join. I do receive benefits from The Good company but I'd like to see planet fitness's policy uphold their promise with a free month membership for every new member I bring. It would be easier to promote the gym more if they came through with their promise. Either way I will still continue to go up there and enjoy everything that planet fitness has to offer. Thank you so much 2023 is going to be...
