REVIEW OF PREVIOUS OWNER. Very professional, fresh food with a REAL BUTCHER! with skills & knowledge to choose and cut meat for many cultures' dishes Arab, Turkish, Bosnian, South Asian, Burmese & Thai, not sure about African countries but most likely he is learning theirs too. He also offers pre-spiced meats so you can make them fresh and deli meat (turkey pastrami is amazing!). So clean too. HUGE assortment, every person will find something. Foods and spices from Morocco to Malaysia, even Bosnian and Turkish! Everything is halal, no questions which explains why it costs a little more, this is a specialty meat/food shop! Other shops carry a mix, which can be confusing, if I'm at a halal market I want it to be 100% halal. If you come at the right time there's even fresh somosas! As well as boxed meals. I cannot recommend this place enough! I live an hour away and THIS is where I shop for ethnic foods. Going to Chicago will have a greater selection but it will always cost more as it is 3 hours away and if you want something ask Azizah/Linda SHE...
Read moreClean, organized, friendly people and it's a one-stop shop with good prices. I mean, this store has everything the big stores have like a meat counter, shelf-stable items, freezers, refrigerated food, fresh/authentic veggies and fruits...I even saw hookah equipment. Besides that, I saw the exact same mortar & pestle 4 bucks cheaper than I'd bought at Amazon...smh...goes to show shopping local's beneficial for all of us. I'll definitely be back. The aisles are smaller than big name stores but I actually tend to appreciate the old quaint mom & pop feel when going somewhere. They've got their own little parking lot, shopping carts, take Snap and the usual pymts anddddd you're getting clean eating! The guy even took my information to let me know when their shipment comes for a certain item I've been looking for. Now tell me when the last time Walmart or Kroger did that👂? 🙊? Check it out 👀 for yourself I say because we don't necessarily like the...
Read moreIf you are looking for something halal or traditionally Asian for a special recipe this is a great place to shop. They have a massive selection of tea (which is great if you are looking for teas to make your own kombucha like me) and specialty coffees. My biggest issue with this place is the entire store reeks of fish as soon as you walk in the door. I was going to get some yogurt from the coolers in the back, but the odor of fish from the refrigerator was so strong and had permeated the packaging so deeply that I wasn't confident the contents wouldn't taste the way the package smelled. I prefer to stick with dry goods although the meats do look freshly...
