I have been a customer here at Jameocc for the last month and a half. I have not reviewed sooner because as much as I want them to succeed, I selfishly want to keep them low key. Seriously however, I have eaten here at least 3 days a week. C arl cooks and Pauline bakes. Between the two them, I have never had a meal or beef patty that was not good. The curry goat is always tender and flavorful. The patties, both the beef and jerk chicken, are always filling and tasty. Pauline will bake you a hard dough bread upon request. This usually takes about a day to get done. Now for my non Jamaican friends reading this post, hard dough bread is a dense sour dough bread. You can slice it as thick or thin as you want to. Great for sandwiches and really great for French toast which my family loves. Did I mention they have an ice cream area in the back. Again, I didn't want to mention it because all of my yardies upon finding out that they make their own grapenut and rum and raisin ice cream may cause me to miss out. I called ahead the other day for a quart of grapenut to be told come tomorrow because a Jamaican lady upon finding out they had it purchased all they had in the store. I should mention that they are a grocery store with a take out kitchen. The food usually takes a few minutes but while waiting, grab a Jamaican soda and engage them in conversation. They are very welcoming folks and are always glad to see you when you come in. I will close by saying that it's worth the drive from whereever you are to check them out. Almost forgot, for a limited time they are giving away Jamaican style soups on Saturdays. It's never the same 2 weekends in a row and no matter which one you end up with, they are always great. My personal favorite is the red bean soup. For my yardies once again, I usually have some left over which thickens up over night and I will eat it over steamed( white ) rice because it tastes like stew peas and rice. Hope you make your way there and give them a chance. By the way I have nothing financially invested in the store and while I'm not blood family, true to the Jamaican style, Pauline and Carl will adopt you into thei family and treat you as such. Yes you still have to pay because nice as they are, they have...
Read moreI never make time to leave reviews (good or bad service) - I just never make time to comment.
That being said, I had to comment. I placed an online order for this restaurant based on its 4.9 google reviews.
I’m only three bites in, and there’s no way the people leaving these reviews are Caribbean or have experienced authentic Caribbean food. This food has no flavor. As a Texas transplant from the DC area we have a large Jamaican, Trinidadian, Guyanese, etc. population. I’ve eaten Caribbean food my whole life. I understand the Fort Worth/Tarrant County area, has a much smaller Caribbean population, maybe it’s possible the restaurant have toned down their flavors to cater to customers who aren’t prepared for the spice, etc. But this just wasn’t it for me.
I took another bite, and there’s no denying the lack of flavor in this food. I got curry goat, rice and peas and cabbage, all of it...
Read moreJamrocc is an absolute gem! From the moment I walk in, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The staff are incredibly friendly and make everyone feel right at home.
The store has a great selection of nostalgic Jamaican products that are hard to find anywhere else — such a comforting touch. The owners are some of the kindest people you’ll meet, and they’re super generous with their portions. They had all of my favorites, even down to the peanut punch!!!
The food is incredible — flavorful, authentic, and made with love. You can really taste the care that goes into every dish. Definitely a spot worth coming back to over and over again....
