Although Tongs has a wide selection of products including dry goods and a plethora of aquatic life. Do not be fooled! I, just like many people before me have stated learned the hard way. I have had multiple fish and inverts die within days of purchasing them from tongs. I also, like some have said brought back the dead animals surely expecting a refund or at least a free replacement but no. They are very rude and will try to blame you for the death no matter what. The manager lady (whom I'm almost certain theses other people are talking about) actually started raising her voice and became very hostile towards me after I was questioning her way of doing "buisness" trying to understand how she could possibly try and say it was my fault and that the fish became sick because of me in less than 24 hours, refusing to refund me. I could not believe a middle aged woman who is the manager of a store would raise her voice and be so rude and disrespectful to a customer who has spent way too much money there. I thought she would want to set a good example for her employees when it came to customer service. Clearly she doesn't care about you or how the store is refleccted by her actions. She refused to refund me for a light that didn't end up working for my tank and i was appalled at the rudeness as she sat behind the register and slurped up her noodles. All this store cares about is money. Thats it. The customer service is horrible with a few exceptions but don't expect anyone to guide you through anything or spend more than 2 minutes helping you. I was very disappointed with Tongs and I hope the owner is aware as to how his shop is being run. Unless he is dead would be unfortunate. Anyone who reads these yelp posts and have had their own experience with tongs please share; I have never even written a review for any business on here but i just couldn't help it with this place. It really rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe if there are enough, it could get noticed by someone... wishful thinking hah. But its worth a try and I feel good I got to vent and speak my truth so hopefully other don't have to...
Read moreMy daughter wanted to purchase from Tong’s Tropical Fish to support local business rather than use national chains such as Pet Smart. She purchased a water tanks, water filter, net and a few fishes. After two weeks she purchased three more fishes. My daughter added the new fishes to the tank which they all died within two hours.. I asked my daughter to return the dead fishes which was just purchased although she felt it would not be fair to Tong’s TF so I put the dead fishes in the original bag and took it back and explained what happened that the first batch of fishes are okay and the new fishes died after they were added to the water tank so the cashier told me that I need the receipt so I mentioned that she paid cash for the purchase and she bought number of items so as courteousy they should replace the fish then the cashier mentioned something about having the original water that came with the fish and something along the line for testing the water. Frankly I was not clear about the request so I said this is a small purchase relative to our prior purchase all the sudden a young lady in the background said this is our policy that I need to pay attention to details that I may be lying I said understand that this is a small $item and I am here as a matter of principal to make a short story short the cashier got the okay to replace the dead fishes. In the meantime the young lady’s father (Owner) told me that I don’t have to come back I said “that’s rude”. It’s nice that everyone wants to support the local business, however, I now feel that major stores have to adhere to certain customer service standards and practices I wish Tong’s a prosperous year and hope they improve their...
Read moreWhat in the whole universe are these dummies doing here?!?!?!?!?! We have a collection of fish including a large orange ryukin, Dusty. It is 2 years old. Stripes the Moorish idol is the same age. We have a 4 year old veiltail betta called bubbles and a 10 year old chagoi, sophie. Last night, we got a blackamoor, a radiata lionfish two Mikey mouse plattis n a benigoi koi fish. Now it is feeding time. Dust went mad over the food while the moor stared at the back of the tank. Moorish gorged itself into clam while radiata was lying lifeless. Betta ate all the tropikle flakes while platy sat in corner. Beniggoi floated on top while Sophie stole all the chow. I immediately went back to the store and a rude square faced Asian lady yelled at me and called me a moron. If i ask a worker sumthin, he will say i dont know. Even worse, I saw fish being mistreated. There was a shrimp that lost 2 legs and one of its antennae lay flat in a 90° angle. Flowerhorns and midsas cichlids were beaten up before they were put in tiny bags. Tangs were picked up by gum coated hands. Live rock was painted. Large angels were kept In tiny tanks that were like ten gallons. I asked them for a refund, but they kept on eating Chinese food. Bettas were housed with tiger barbs, which killed 3. When I checked in the tanks in which i got fish, the fish were dead! I ended up with five dead fish in this trash can. To add on, Dust, stripes, bubbles and Sophie were dead with both ick and fungus on them. I was ripped of with buying 200 worth of fish and being ripped off by rude and silly people. So bad, my best fish died!!!!!!!!! Never go to this fish abuse center ever ever ever ever no matter...
