Five Mile International Supermarket — Local services in Fredericksburg

Zero stars, if possible. At about 4:20 p.m. today I called this store by mistake, thinking that it was another international store in the vicinity that I was trying to locate. An Asian-sounding fellow took my call, and I politely asked if I had reached the right store. He suddenly sounded quite angry that I was asking him about his competitor, another international store nearby (I learned this after the fact). I asked him if his store was at least an international store (in case I could shop there instead), and that question seemed to tick him off even more! I told him that his tone was quite un-professional and unfriendly, and he started arguing with me over the phone......instead of tendering a simple customer apology. I don't know if this fellow was generally having a bad day, but in this day and age, if this fellow could not exercise any self-control over the phone, who knows how he would have treated me in person?? I would definitely not go to this store at all, and I would not recommend it to...

I still like this place but it is getting harder to find some items. I do know we are still going through covid but some of the items disappeared before that. My biggest let down was the push back from asking for something to be bagged separate. The item was sticky, the cashier says it is just water....... Now to be fair it whatever was on the product was liquid and got sticky after our whole it was drying. Tried to explain and they just kept being persistent. The packaged lotus root sat at that time under all the drinks in the fridge could have been one leaked. Regardless I got home and the bag was stuck to...

Honestly one of the best Asian markets in the DMV area in my opinion! Their product variety of spices, hard to find ingredients, and snacks is expansive. So even if you're in the market for a specific product, I'm sure you'll find that, in addition to multiple variants to try. If you're unable to locate something, the gentleman working there is more than happy to help you find it, so don't be afraid to ask, he's incredibly sweet! The produce is always fresh, and the prices are fair, so I would recommend giving this small business a try going to a Wegman's or any other chain store for your international...
