Probably my favorite Chinese food restaurant in Fredericksburg. All of the food tastes fresh and seems like it's made with quality ingredients.
Some appetizers that we order regularly could be a bit better - steamed dumplings are a bit bland and the boneless ribs are often a bit dry. But the wonton soup is excellent - good flavor in the broth, and filled with tasty, delicate wontons.
Entrees are also very good. The sauces aren't too heavy or cloyingly sweet. Vegetables are crisp and not soggy and proteins seem fresh.
My only gripe is how they handle Uber Eats orders. We're about a mile outside of their in-house delivery service's area of operation, meaning we need to use a service like Uber Eats to get delivery. They've decided to offset the surcharges and service fees from Uber by drastically increasingly the price of all items.
For example, wonton soup is $4.25 for a quart on their menu. It's $6.10 through Uber Eats. That's a 44% markup. Chicken fried rice is $7.95 on their menu and $11.35 on Uber Eats. That's a 43% markup.
I completely understand why they're doing that from a business perspective and will never be upset at a small business for doing what they have to do to stay profitable, but this feels a bit exploitative. To get their food from Uber Eats, a $45 order would have cost us more than $80. I like their food...but not enough to pay almost 2X for it.
We still try to support them by ordering take-out and picking it up. But I think they're getting about half of the business they would be getting from us if the markup was more reasonable...
Read moreI have been a customer here for about 9 years now. I had a bad experience with an almost $80 order recently. But, I figured, everybody had a bad day, things happen, and I was granted a $50 credit by the owner over the phone. I was told I'd have to call in to order to get the credit, which I did today. The lady on the phone, didn't understand what I was telling her, so I waited patiently for about 20 minutes while she "discussed with the owner", after she picked back up she said owner to busy, I'm not going to honor. She told me the total without the credit and I said absolutely not, I called in because I should have a credit on the account, and I would like that honored as promised. She said thank you have good day, and HUNG UP ON ME!!! Amazing customer service. Don't want to deal with your customer of almost a decade, just hang up on them. That's ok, just lost a customer for life. ALSO, the reason I got the credit in the first place was we got FOOD POISONING FROM THAT $80 order!!! We were sick for days, one had to go to the ER. I figured it was an isolated incident as I have never had a problem with my orders prior to this. Beware, of the food, the horribly rude lady that answers the phones, and the owners false promises, they...
Read moreI can honestly say this place 100% fell off! The food is just terrible now!! Being honest, it’s all I know how to do so unfortunately I’m gonna have to be honest. We ordered Two orders of chicken wings, and french fries With the total being $23 and change. First, they start with the portion, A handful of fries, three chicken wings cut in half (portions), asked for extra crispy fries and they where not, Extra crispy chicken and they where not! This is not worth $23 dollars!!! Maybe $15 at most!!! I understand prices are going up but you don’t have to downsize or skimp on orders!!! You basically robbing people with horrible prices and food!! Great customer service, you will Admit that but what is great customer service with horrible prices and food?? You are better off going to wingstop or the other Chinese restaurant near brother pizza (not the best place either but atleast you will get your money’s worth). Very very very disappointing at this place because I used to praise this place and recommend to everyone. Must be a new owner…….sorry but I don’t recommend this...
