We bought a $7000 loveseat and chair combo and was told it would last us 25+ years due to the construction and quality craftsmanship. We had the furniture less than a month and it was already sagging. I called, jumped through hoops to try to get new cushions, and they did finally replace them after the manager blamed us for the sagging cushions. The replacement cushions started to sag after another month. The cushions have NO down fill in them. Cushions in store were supportive. We also reported several cracking noises in the frame and was told that is normal "settling". I never heard that before. The tech pushed his hands up and down on the furniture and said the frame was fine. He did not turn the sofa over or look at frame. Told us there was nothing else they could do and that was that in Simms view, thank you so much for our $7000. It's been a year since we've had the furniture and it's only getting worse. My husband and I take turns sitting in a 30 year old rocking chair instead of our furniture. Dont get me wrong. The furniture looks beautiful but it's more like a piece of art you just look at. We had family visiting for 3 days over the holiday and they both left with back and hip pain because of Simms furniture. We tried to spend more time sitting on porch furniture we spent a few hundred dollars on more than our $7000 garbage furniture from Simms. We are now considering putting plywood under the cushions (to help the possible broken frame but also the sagging cushions) or to pay someone to make better quality cushions for us. I wish we would have kept our 16 year old $1400 sofa. We could have put plywood under it and got new cushions and saved a lot of money. Be cautious what Simms tells you. They don't care. You are just a sale to them. Customer service is awesome until you take receipt of your furniture. If you have a problem with it customer service does not exist and they actually blame YOU for their less than quality furniture. Paying a lot of money for furniture DOES NOT equal quality furniture. Buyer beware! If someone told me it was used furniture I would have believed it. Simms should be ashamed of their products, the fact they don't back their products, and the light switch of customer service (the game) they flip off once your furniture is delivered. If you like to throw your money away feel free to shop at Simms. Possibly the owner can purchase a second Lamborghini. (See other post) while our furniture will probably end up...
Read moreSimms Furniture and The Carpet House use to be our favorite Furniture And Carpet store in Fredericksburg , Va. Over the past 15 years or so, we have spent well over $100,000 in these stores in Furniture, Carpets, and Accessories. In the past, we were always recognized and greeted by staff, and felt welcomed each time we shopped at these stores. However, over the last few years we have noticed many staff turnover, and been greeted by unfriendly staff, felt like we were looked down upon by staff, and had to hunt down staff to answer questions, while being made to feel like we were annoying them. Recently we ordered carpet pads, and told they would be ready on the following Tuesday. On Wedensday we received a call saying they would be ready Thursday morning, then later told Thursday at 3:00. When showing up at 3:00, the carpet pads were not even cut yet! We also recently bought custom furniture at Simms and were told the Salesperson would be at our house when the furniture arrived to help with setup. They did not show up or call to say they would not be there. The lack of respect and friendliness towards customers speaks very poorly of these stores and we will never shop there again. We have given them many chances to improve, but only see these stores deteriorating in their customer service.
I recommend driving to Williamsburg or other high quality stores that sell high end furniture over shopping locally at Simms or the carpet House and taking the abuse they provide to...
Read moreI purchased a new home in Fredricksburg and started my hunt for some new quality furniture. I thought I stumbled upon a quality furniture. I am torn with my rating because Darlene was very helpful. She promptly greeted me and answered my questions the best she could. She was waiting for the store manager, after browsing for an hour and a couple phone calls. I left an message after 2 days I called back. Eventually I got my questions answered. I ended up ordering a sofa online with Darlene taking my info and request for Memorial day sale, cash discount and/or military discount . Lisa stated they don't do holiday discounts. Low and behold my sister receives an flyer in the mail about a 4th July 30% off discount I call to inquire because I still have not received my sofa. Lisa's new story is the sale is only for her previous customers. Okay 2K down and I am not a previous customer. The military discount is offset by the heavy furniture discount. Good furniture is heavy and the price typically reflects the fact. Customer service by the manager is a joke. I hope Mr. & Mrs Simms have another heir to step in before their daughter ruins their good name in the furniture business. Buyers beware. My July delivery is now late August. I haven't heard from Lisa. The furniture price does not equate to the customer service. Back on the hunt for a quality furniture store with quality furniture...
