Hard Times Cafe - Fredericksburg — Restaurant in Virginia

I have not been to hard times in a few years there isn't one in Caroline where I live but I wanted to take my son out to eat for lunch so I picked him up from work and went all the way down to the Falmouth bridge and realized that hard times isn't hard times anymore so we then went back up to 4 Mile fork and oh my gosh the food was so good it was kind of slow for a late lunch I think it was like 1:30 but we got the chili sampler I think Travis has only been there one time awhile ago he really like the chili he got his favorite, chicken tenders and I got the whiskey barbecue burger oh my gosh it was so good. We also got a large nachos I asked her if she could put the tomatoes onions and jalapenos on the side cuz I don't eat those and Travis likes them and he answered to put the sour cream on the side cuz he doesn't particularly care for sour cream so she brings us this huge platter of chips with the chili of our choice the Texas Chili and shredded cheese and these smaller dishes with sour cream onion tomatoes jalapenos all in separate little things and the large was very large we could have ate that and been full it was very very good I brought home a big container of nachos to have leftover for a midnight snack Travis brought home a few chicken tenders and fries because it was a lot of chicken tenders and fries I tried to eat most of my burger but I wound up bringing home half because the thing is enormous I asked her to have it medium and it was perfect it was pink throughout the entire patty and when they say it's not frozen and it's hand pressed I believe it that was such a big thick juicy perfectly cooked burger and the fries you could tell they had cut them fresh they were not frozen everything was just amazing The atmosphere was nice it's not bright but it's not dark it's just right with lights all against the walls some country music playing and she even gave us to go cups so we can put the rest of her drinks in and take with us for free The waitress was such a sweetheart we will definitely be going back so if you're looking for a nice atmosphere wonderful people fantastic food you've got to try...

I love hard times i come here a lot this is my go to bar it's a great company and food and the bartenders i know on the floor are awesome like ashley, kaley, Jessica and i come to spend my money to feel good though.. but behind the bar i take this personal because the first time i asked steve to put me on a tab he said ok so i thought cool... I went and purchased a few or more it became a continuous charge so after being charged the third time now i shannon looking at me saying "don't look at me like that" and that was while ago so tonight 4/25/18 i never was rude in these experiences but i asked for shots of brandy she gave me a sample i didn't want also i had my hand up in respect so she can see me.. We waited for a very long time after being seated before our waitress even came to the table. We ordered our drinks and she brought out three of the four and then it took another several minutes for my youngest daughter to get her drink because they were out of the apple juice she originally ordered. Finally the waitress took our order and after ordering the two kids meals my fiancee asked a question about an item and the waitress said she would have to check. She went to two other tables then to the back to ask the question before returning to complete our order. She did not advise my fiancee her meal included a side salad and didn't ask her what type of dressing she wanted so we were very confused when a gentleman brought a side salad to the table. I ordered 10 boneless wings which were very dry and almost unchewable. When the waitress came to clear plates she asked if we had saved room for dessert and I guess tried to joke that it would "only take 3 hours to get to the table," sadly the way service was going this didn't feel like a joke. She brought our check and it was another several minutes before she picked it back up.
