Big 5 Sporting Goods — Local services in Fremont

The MANAGER KERN was NOT WILLING TO HELP, INCONSIDERATE, AND VERY RUDE! My husband and I came to pick up a rifle we purchased and have waited for for days (which we had to go on the waiting list, just like everyone else). When we came in, the store was almost empty. We were anticipating that we will get help right away. We waited for help for a long time after being ignored by the manger himself. The manager's name was KERN. When we finally get his attention, he looked at out pick-up slip and told us that he cannot help us for he does not have the time, since they will be closing soon. We explained that we were there earlier to be able to pick up the item in time. It is unbelievable how RUDE and INCONSIDERATE this manager was! His long list of reasons NOT TO HELP US were: " I have NO to time, I have pay my employees for extra time, I have to wait for approval...", After being RUDE, he then changed his mind and said: as courtesy, "I will do it, and I'll pay the overtime!" (Really? It is his JOB as a manager to take care of every costumer that comes in that store!) He then started slamming the box of the item we were getting and the needed papers with his angry, sour face. The whole process only took him 9 MINUTES! By the time we left, the store was still open due to another unhappy customer (go figure!). All his whining goes down to the fact that HE DOES NOT WANT TO HELP! It was supposed to be a fun experience for my husband and I, but it turned out be a NIGHTMARE! It was all because the MANAGER KERN was NOT WILLING TO HELP, INCONSIDERATE,...

About 2 months ago I bought hiking shoes for about $25 and 1 week later the sole started to separate from upper portion of the left shoe. Then 1 week later the same thing happened to the other shoe. And later, both shoes literally disintegrated. This company sells cheap shoes made in China to unsuspecting American consumers. This company should change its name to Big 0 Sporting Goods. NO MORE BIG 0 CRAP FOR ME! PS I called the store sometime later and they asked ask me to give them a second chance and they had a pair of good hiking shoes deeply discounted at 17.00. These hiking shoes did last a couple of months and when the rains came I applied beeswax to waterproof them. But when the rains came these shoes were soaked and I couldn't understand why. Then I discovered after taking out the inserts that the soles were hollow and completely worn through and so I had to throw these shoes away as well. So the bottom line is this store sells super cheap worthless shoes and you get crap shoes for a dirt cheap price. NO MORE BIG ZERO SPORTING...

Been going to this Big 5 for 30+ years. Trying on discount shoes with my dad after looking at the deals in the newspaper. My wife and I always drive by and wonder how they're still open in the current brick and mortar environment. Well,we are still left wondering after going in there for snow pants. Don't get me wrong, we got some snow pants for our son at a decent price and he was able to try it on. But there are roof leaks leaking through disrepaired celing tiles, in multiple spots. There's items in the store that looklike they've been in that store from 30 years ago because they've had since damage. And hardly any effort is put into stock and organization on the shelves. Employees seemed THRILLED to be working therel (Please see the sarcasm there..) Sad that old historic stores are doomed to disappear. Can't imagine this location lasting another 5-10 years.
