I acknowledge that this place is new and probably still figuring things out, so I will come back to edit my review as things change/improve.
Location: The location is convenient as it’s central to Fremont in a shopping plaza with plentiful parking. The plaza is not the most lively at the moment but hopefully more restaurants and other businesses will open around here. It is east to bike to but there is not convenient bike parking nearby, but the store window is semi-transparent so you can see your bike from inside. The shop itself is pretty small with minimal seating, so most orders are probably best to-go.
Drinks: My friends and I ordered C1 (Taiwan No.1 Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Tea) and A1 (Assam Black Tea), 50% sugar, and with brown sugar boba. The flavor was overall good but the drinks were a bit watered down, even with 50% ice. The flavor of the boba was good but the texture was a little too soft for our preferences. The prices for the drinks were very reasonable compared to other boba places in the area.
Food: We ordered spam musubi and popcorn chicken (no spicy). The popcorn chicken was very good! There was definitely more chicken than batter, it had good crisp, and the flavor was not too salty. I would definitely get the popcorn chicken here again. The spam musubi was okay. We’re not sure if it was the rice, the spam, or the nori, but the musubi had a sort of sour taste. Our hypothesis is maybe they use vinegar in there somewhere (?). It was a miss for us, and I wouldn’t get it again.
Service: The workers are friendly and were helpful in trying to answer my questions about the menu. While I waited for my order I did an errand at FedEx and when I came back my order was ready. One of the employees came out to bring my order to me (since I was on my bike), and I really appreciated that!
Overall: This place is good and has potential for more! I hope as they get more established and receive constructive feedback they’re able to improve the quality of their food and drinks. I would love to see more businesses come to this otherwise somewhat bland plaza and make central Fremont the place to be, and I think ChaChaGo can be part of that revitalization. Definitely check this local place out and give them your support...
Read moreThe drinks at Chachago taste great, but I really must dock two stars for some exorbitant pricing, considering the place isn't really all that fancy, and is quite tiny (which means lower overhead)! There isn’t much room to sit and chill to do homework or to hang out with a group.
See, when I go out for some milk tea, I feel that baked into the cost of the drink is the ability to sit down with my laptop to work on a project, or to chop it up with some close acquaintances, none of which are possible here. There are only two teeny round tables that are always occupied, so chances of locating an open spot are more rare than a dodo bird.
So, how pricy are items at Chachago, do you ask? The starting cost for some of their signature drinks hover around the $6.85 $7 range, and that is before adding any toppings! Add a topping or two, plus pay the mandatory tax (most places give you the option for to-go or dine in, and to-go is always non-taxed), and you are looking at a minimum of $8 $9!
That is absolutely mind boggling, considering at most other shops, you're looking at no more than the low to mid $6's MAX out the door!
However, as mentioned, the drinks do taste amazing, with fresh teas and ingredients. I just wish I didn't have to win the Lotto every time before...
Read moreHonestly the boba shop’s name sounds like Chicago. Anyways, my friend and I decided to go come to this location to get some boba and snacks. When I first got here, there is many people most likely because it’s hot outside right now.
I’m surprised that there are many items you can buy from the menu. Literally different names of drinks and food, but you may have to go to one of the kiosks to see what they look like. I literally had a hard time deciding which ones I want and so I had my friend help me out on it. Food and drinks taste as good as other boba places.
From the inside, it’s very small and rarely has seats. However, I do like how they added plants and other natural resources to make this place look vibrant and modern. I wish that they added more seats, but the place is too small since people are here lining up and waiting for their orders to be picked up. So then my friend and I stood for a while until like 30 minutes later that many people left.
It’s funny how they still have a Grand Opening sign for over a year now just for the restaurant to promote itself. You may see that it is false advertising, but attractive at the same time. Not that it really matters, but this boba shop is a good place to go and I would...
