If I could give ZERO STARS, I would. This was my first time ever visiting this location. I’m not a gamer, but I came in with my fiancé and niece, who have recently gotten into collecting Pokémon cards.
While waiting in line, I noticed one of the two cashiers staring at me uncomfortably (his name was Chris)—but I brushed it off. When the other register opened up, I began walking over. That’s when Chris abruptly stopped me and said, “Um, you already bought Pokémon cards today. You were second in line when we opened. I remember you.”
I was absolutely shocked. I had never stepped foot in this store before, let alone purchased anything from it. I calmly responded, “No, I’ve never been to this GameStop in my life.” Despite my clear response, the other cashier (tall, skinny, white male) still had the audacity to question me again at the register: “Are you sure you didn’t already buy these today?”
I cannot explain how uncomfortable and singled-out I felt. It was humiliating to be falsely accused, especially when I had done nothing wrong. I was one of two women in the store at the time, and it felt like I was being unfairly profiled. I believe they mistook me for another Asian woman, which—while an honest mistake—does not excuse the rude tone, disbelief, and accusatory behavior. It felt racially insensitive, and dismissive of my word. It was either that, or Chris was displaying misogynistic behavior (which is common based on previous reviews) and wanted to get a reaction out of me OR is an attention seeking male who resents women in a male dominated area.
There are ways the staff could have handled this professionally: checking transaction history, verifying details, or simply trusting my word—especially when nothing suggested otherwise. Instead, I was treated with racism and disrespect.
I even felt compelled to show proof of evidence that I in fact was not there at the time Chris was accusing me of. But honestly, I just wanted to leave because of how unwelcoming and frustrating the whole situation was. I quickly paid and left feeling shaken, embarrassed, and deeply uncomfortable. My fiancé and niece witnessed the whole thing, and it completely ruined what was supposed to be a fun outing.
This was one of the worst retail experiences I’ve ever had. I will NEVER return, and I strongly encourage others to NOT support this location, because of the values that the staff reflects. Misogynistic and racist males who are incompetent to know how to take accountability or show any...
Read moreI'm sorry, but going here is the most frustrating process. I got to the counter, spoke clearly what I wanted, the tall, good looking, skinny with muscle, black dude, reworded my request, making it seem like I was an idiot. I told him whatever he felt was best. Then, he started mumbling to himself saying I was made no sense. I don't know, it just awkward, making the transaction uncomfortable. Then again, maybe it's just me. When people start talking, mumbling something then answering their own questions under their breath, I naturally think this guy is probably going to go on a murder spree.
Second interaction that day, I had this left over credit on a gift card, given to me as a birthday gift. I figured, I'm never going here again, so I'll just burn the remaining credit.
Walked in, chose what game I bought, was ready to check out. I got another guy, older, hairy white guy who thought he was way too cool to deal with me. He rung up my game and added a $3 charge.
Hairy: Just so you know, I'm going to go ahead and do YOU a favor. This is a game protection charge. If it breaks, we'll replace it. Sounds nice, right? You're welcome.
If I were five, maybe. But, in the last 20 years of playing disc based games, I've never had a game get completely scratched up to it won't play. And while I appreciate him telling me that he added it and not snuck it in, he should have offer first and not make it seem like he's "doing me a favor" by adding an extra thing I don't need. Maybe I was just annoyed by skinny, good looking, young, psycho killer black dude.
One thing I do have to say. There is a chubby, young white guy with a kind face who works there? That guy seems really nice, and a genuinely sweet person. Somebody asked him a question, and his answers seemed like he was really wanted to help this person. Black guy was just rude, and Hairy just...
Read moreXmas coming up so be sure to read!! My review is based off last year during Christmas so I cant speak for current policy's and customer care since I don't come here anymore, I bought 2 ps4's on separate occasions for Christmas and both times they slipped in warranty without asking, my first ps4 they gave me a refund for the charged but they pretend like you agreed to it when you come back, my second ps4 I caught them adding it to the charge and I asked to remove it, I also have bought few games over the years where I barley noticed the small warranty fee being added, To my knowledge they force there employees to sneak in warranty since most people would say no, So Buyers just be aware of the small fees they don't mention.
To be honest there staff is Friendly and very helpful and will bend there backs to call other stores to reserve something for you if they don't have it in stock, but management from above is skanky and forces employees to be shady. Gamestop moderator don't bother...
