I called in my reservation on the 16th of February, 2017. I specifically asked for an Executive Suite above the 2nd floor. At this particular hotel, the front desk, and other hotel amenities are located on this floor. My reservation was set for February 18th, 2017 until, February 19th, 2017. I called in on that Saturday morning to find out, when my check in time was. I knew, it was 3:00 PM as indicated on the website and standard protocol for all Marriott's, I've stayed at. Sometimes though, very rarely...I've been allowed to come earlier. I had several relatives coming in from Chicago and LA for a Christening and a family gathering. My family is from Louisiana originally and we all tried to get together for Mardi Gras festivities(mini reunion). We'll the Christening was scheduled to take place at 5:00 o'clock Mass. When I called to let the hotel staff know, we were in route...I was told my room wasn't ready!!!! I was told, if I would like the suite on the 2nd floor..it was ready! I was livid! I calmed myself down...ran a quick errand... got to the hotel at 4:00 PM...room still wasn't ready! I checked in at 4:29! Still having to take my shower and get ready for the Christening, WE MISSED IT! I asked to speak to the manager, when I was initially told the room wasn't ready....He wasn't there! It was the assistant manager, Shavonne....who was very rude and adamant that, I could not be compensated for any inconvenience, I had ensued. So, I left a message for the General Manager, Gary Sheppard, asking him to call me back. This was Saturday....I had to call him on Monday, February 20th, 2017. He was very rude on the phone, he yelled at me and basically told me, I could call corporate, the call would just be routed back to him! I have been a frequent stayer of Marriott's all over the World! I am appalled at the way, I was treated and the unprofessional manners of the management staff at...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I love the fact that the location of the hotel is in the town center. The thing I didn’t like was I felt some of the staff was not helpful and not well informed. My room rate included complimentary breakfast which the staff seem to not care about. On my first day of stay, when I had come down before 10 am to get the complimentary breakfast, a staff said that they don’t have anything to give because all the food had finished, which I found very strange at that moment. Then I asked whether I could just get some hot beverage (which you would think as in other hotels that is complimentary) but instead I was charged. I was then able to resolve with the front desk to not have it charged as I am entitled to a standard hot drink (coffee/tea). When I went back to the cafe to confront and conveyed to the staff at the cafe that I am allowed to get my complimentary breakfast as told by front desk, another staff at the cafe said that they do have a lot of food just that they don’t know what is included in the complimentary breakfast, which then I found it very contradicting to the information I was given initially by the other staff saying they didn’t have any food to give. After discussing with the staff, she was then able to provide me with food. Imagine wanting to eat something but had to go through all that struggle. The next day, I came down again to get the breakfast but was told that they don’t know what’s included in the breakfast. Only after insisting that my room rate includes breakfast, the same staff then initiated to ask the manager regarding this. Everything was resolved in then end but still this experience left me feeling so disappointed. I hope other don’t have to go through...
Read moreWe spent two nights at the Courtyard Pearland and didn't enjoy our stay. We were in town visiting family and wanted to be nearby. We arrived to the hotel around 8p and there was no one at the front desk to check us in. We waited about 5 minutes and someone from the Bistro came over to check us in, but she couldn't make us keys. I tried mobile check in to use a mobile key, but that wasn't working so we had to wait a few more minutes for the front desk clerk to show up and make our keys. Every time we we passed through the lobby and the two times we went to the lobby to get coffee and to check out, again there was no one at the front desk. ||The room while spacious had a strange layout and the bathroom door wouldn't stay open without using the doorstopper. But then it was a hassle every time you had to close the door. Also, there's only one hook behind the door to hang one towel and no other options. ||Lastly, when we got to the room, the air conditioner was set on 61 degrees and freezing! It was hot in Houston this weekend, but that felt really wasteful to just have it running and set at 61. ||Pros|The hotel is well located at the mall and easy to get to from the freeway. Also, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. ||Cons|Check in was a hassle and the front desk clerk was MIA. Also, the issues with the bathroom door were annoying and having nowhere to hang towels added to the frustration. ||We won't be back. This is my third poor experience at a Marriott property in a row so I just canceled three future stays at other Courtyards. Not sure what's going on with them lately, but certainly disappointed to...
