Long But Overdue Review I made a reservation a week ahead for a party of 11 on February 16th at 11 AM. We got seated, and everything started off well. But honestly, the girl with short red hair really doesn't seem cut out for this industry. We were there to celebrate my birthday, and she was incredibly snappy with anything we asked her.
First off, everyone had different menus, and it felt like she didn't want to give us the right ones. She huffed, puffed, and rolled her eyes, which was really off-putting. I'm not sure if the restaurant is understaffed or what, but they really need to get it together! The way they advertise on social media set our expectations high, and we were all excited to try it out because the food looked amazing in the pictures!
So, we ordered our drinks and food. Keep in mind, we were a party of 11, and she wasn't even writing down our orders. Fine, whatever. After about 30 minutes, I wanted to check on our drinks, and she gave me attitude, saying it was the bartender's responsibility. She always seemed mad, and we couldn't ask her anything without her being rude!
Eventually, she came back and said the first round of drinks would be comped. Okay, that was nice. But then we waited around 40 minutes to an hour for our food to arrive, and not everyone got their meals at the same time! We were still waiting for three plates--pancakes, Eggs Benedict, and an omelette. After waiting another 20-30 minutes, everyone else was done eating.
To make matters worse, the back door was open, letting in cold air. I asked our waitress if they could close it, and she said no because a private party paid for it. So, because of that, the rest of us had to deal with the cold? It just felt really inconsiderate.
So, our three plates of food finally came out, and it was just not what I expected. For the Eggs Benedict, they put two eggs on one toast. Isn't it supposed to be two toasts? For my omelette, I asked for a ham and cheese omelette with a side of potatoes, which was $9 and nothing special! The ham was deli ham and gross. Also, we had two orders of the smash burger. They advertise on social media that it comes with an egg, but there was no egg. Finally, I had enough. Other tables were complaining, and I needed to let the manager know what was going on. I asked for the manager, and my friend went to the restroom. She heard the water guy ask for the manager, and he started cussing. He came out stating he's taking off my meal (birthday girl) and giving 10% off the bill. Then I was able to tell him what was going on. But no discount can make up for how we were treated by the waitress and how unorganized this restaurant is....
Read moreI called the morning of 08/01 to make a same-day reservation for a party of 7 to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The gentleman who took my call was incredibly professional — he listened attentively, understood the importance of the occasion, and suggested a table in the banquet room for a more private experience. He even let me know we were welcome to bring our own cake and decor. That level of attentiveness set the tone, and I was immediately impressed with the restaurant and the potential for a memorable evening.
However, upon arrival, things took a disappointing turn. I had my wife wait in the car with our son so I could set up the table, only to be informed by the hostess that our reservation had been moved to a high-top table outside of the banquet room. I explained that this wasn’t what I had reserved, and that a high table wouldn’t work due to having children in our party. Instead of attempting to understand or resolve the situation, the hostess was dismissive and made me feel as if my request was unreasonable — despite it being a reservation I had clearly confirmed. Her tone, body language, and general attitude lacked professionalism and created a poor first impression. Additional training in customer service and hospitality is strongly recommended.
Thankfully, the service from Catarina, our server, along with the food runners and bussers — especially Abe — turned the experience around. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and professionalism were exceptional. They made us feel welcomed, celebrated, and well taken care of. This level of service truly reflects what you’d expect from a restaurant striving to become a local favorite.
As for the food — I ordered the ribeye and it was spot-on. Everyone in our group was pleased with their meals; the quality was evident and the flavors delivered. Pricing was also very reasonable for the quality and overall experience.
In summary, despite the rocky start, the dining experience was saved by an outstanding service team and quality cuisine. I would return — and I look forward to seeing service excellence reflected across the board on...
Read moreFood was mediocre: appetizers need rethinking Dinner rolls as house bread needs to be an artisan bread vs 4 dinner rolls charcuterie Board was good for this area as Fresno area cheese boards are usually store cheddar and Monterrey Jack Spicy watermelon with Burrata was ok. Would rather see local heirlooms w/Enzo olive oil and burrata (idea) Main Course: Ribeye and pasta need addressing. Pasta dough was thick for homemade and the ribeye very thin and lacked additional marbling. Would love to see a choice of bone in filet and a hanger Branzino and octopus was good. Would love to see the octopus with Spain style smoked paprika olive oil simple without harsh lemon and spice to it (the fingerling potatoes were great) Service and Hosting: Probably some of the best service in Fresno and host was a delight Attention to table and guest was amazing and that alone makes us want to keep coming back Drinks: Great cocktails that were well balanced Wine choices are too focused on California Cabs and would love to see more international choices but there were still some really good selections of wine.
Will definitely be back but maybe only for early start to the night and order charcuterie but have dinner somewhere else.
Absolutely fantastic start and love that this...
