I've lived in the neighborhood close to Rowes for close to three years and have been a patron initially because it was a matter of convenience. I could literally go across the street and get whatever I needed and be back home in a matter of minutes. But recently I've noticed a surprising transformation from a so so neighborhood grocery store to a more professional presence which is beginning to rival that of a more upscale place such as Winn Dixie or even the gold standard of stores like Publix ( my personal opinion). From it's excellent selection of ethnic foods, to its very reasonable prices, to its quality selections at the deli at very reasonable prices, to it's quick friendly service, to it's rows and rows of neatly arranged shelving, all of this shows that you don't have to pay exhorbitant prices to have good quality groceries. My hat's off to the management. Just a side note: My wife and I had switched to shopping at Aldi for a while due to the low prices there, but they have such a limited selection of goods we have since been spending more of our grocery budget at Rowe's due to the convenience and the comparable pricing there, coupled with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experience shopping today(February 15, 2024) was disappointing!!! I had to return some food literally right after I've checked out. It happens no big deal. I was already embarrassed returning the items. When I went to the Spanish manager Availa (who clearly had a translator Spanish worker working with her who understood English) had an attitude of me returning my items. She literally said in Spanish, "oh my God" like I was a burden. Little did she knew I know Spanish and I understood her frustration talking in Spanish to the other Spanish coworker who was working with her!!! That was extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and uncalled for!! She better be careful talking in Spanish to other Spanish people before she end up getting the right person who she thinks can't understand Spanish ending up cursing her out and hurting her feelings!!! I am calling Corporate and telling them what happened!! I drove all the way from Saint Augustine to get an embarrassment situation that was uncalled for as a burden that could have been resolved simply by handing me my money back with a smile and an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMe and my husband are new to Jacksonville and we were looking for a Spanish supermarket. We decided to go here and the second we walked in the guy at the deli stopped my husband to tell him to leave the backpack at the front. He kept telling him itās the babyās diaper bag . Mind you my husband is black and Iām Hispanic light skinned. As I approach him the guy saw me and said oh ok you can give it to her. I felt so uncomfortable shopping there and left with 4 items. I went to the manager and explained what happens and he did not seem to care one bit . This will be the last time we come here. This place sees a black man walk in with a backpack and immediately assume...
