It truly pains me to write this review. I’ve been shopping at JCPenney my entire life—over half a century—and I’ve never had a negative experience, whether in-store or online, until now. In 2009, a piece of jewelry was purchased for me along with a lifetime warranty. In 16 years, I’ve only needed service for it twice, and this is the first time I’ve had an issue with the repair process. As someone with a disability, it was already challenging to bring the item into the store for repair. I was told the repair would be completed nearly a week ago, but since then, I haven’t been able to reach anyone in the jewelry department by phone. Out of frustration, I contacted the corporate number listed on my receipt. The representative I spoke with was kind, but even she couldn’t get through to the store. She took my information and assured me I’d receive a call or email from the store manager—but that was three days ago, and I’ve heard nothing since. I’m deeply hurt, angry, and confused. This is not the JCPenney I’ve known all my life—nor the one my mother trusted for decades. I hope someone truly listens and helps make this right. UPDATE: Incredibly frustrating experience with JCPenney. After their corporate response, I called the number they gave me only to find no record of my previous call. It took escalating to a supervisor, who then somehow got through to the Orange Park Mall jewelry manager, just to find out my item was ready. Customer service at the Orange Park Mall is a major problem. I am still very disappointed.

I was thoroughly disappointed upon arriving home with my clothing that I purchased from this establishment. To my surprise, out of the 3 items I had the woman that checked me out hadn’t taken the tag off of one of my items. There was an ink tag attached to a pair of pants I purchased, leaving me to either spend my time and gas to return to the store; or tamper with the piece of clothing which ultimately led to an ink stain on my clothes. Walking into the store, the cashiers weren’t busy at all which was very apparent as they talked at the counter the whole time. This issue could have easily been avoided if the members had stayed on task and checked properly as they were checking me out. The lady that scanned my clothing was ā€œMaryanneā€ I believe.

Does good customer service even exist anymore?

I was scheduled for a relaxer service with Jimmy, and he gave me one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had (and I've had my share of them).

This was my second time having him do my hair; the first time he worked on me, he proceeded to insult my color job from a different salon, calling it very amateur looking, but I let that comment slide.

Moving on to my second appointment, he proceeds to say, "you won't be getting your hair colored anymore, right?," and I told him that I've had my hair colored for quite some time (meaning: this is what I intend to keep doing with MY hair).

He, then, has the nerve to say, "well, if you want to keep doing it, since you think it's okay, that's on you." First of all, I never opened my mouth to even ask his opinion of my colored hair; therefore, his comments were extremely rude/condescending, unprofessional and unsolicited.

At first, I was going to let it slide again, but I was very heated at how he talked to me. I told him I didn't appreciate his comments, and he said he was just giving his professional opinion. I replied that I never asked for his opinion.

I know my hair and when it has been damaged by color, and my hair is perfectly fine. I replied by telling him that his comments were rude and unprofessional and he should respect how I feel. He replied that he would rinse my relaxer back out, that he had just started putting in my hair, and be done, if that's how I felt (meaning: he wanted me out of his chair and to end the service).

I said, "Are you serious?" He proceeds to tell me to go to the sink, so he could rinse me out, because he was done servicing me. I, quickly, told him to go get his manager, because this was totally uncalled for.

Long story short, the manager said he had a right to end the service, and that she could do my hair herself on Monday. I refuse to go back, because I feel like she has allowed this jerk to be straight up disrespectful, just because I said his comments were rude and unprofessional, which they were.

I had to leave the salon with very wet, unstyled hair, because of him and an incompetent manager. If Jimmy was truly a professional and decent person, he would've apologized for any miscommunication, instead of getting upset and kicking me out of his chair. If the manager was truly professional and decent, this situation wouldn't have been okay at all.

To be clear, I would've been fine with him asking me about coloring my hair, if he said it in a respectful, educational manner; however, he proceeded to talk down to me like a child, and I'm a...

The worst experience I’ve ever had in a JCPenney. The employees on the closing shift have the worst customer service and shame on all them who were located in the Juniors department check out area on 10/12/25. They truly deserve to be fired. I was in the dressing room 10mins before closing and the lights went out it took me 5mins to find my way out as I was falling and tripping over things due to it being pitch black and nothing could be seen. I had to try to find my phone in my purse to turn on my flashlight. I politely let the employees know that this needs to be addressed with management as it is a huge safety hazard. They of course did not care and said they can’t do anything about the lights going out. Mind you at this point it’s only 5mins after closing time. There were employees yelling at customers to get out of the store or get in line as if they were correctional officers talking to inmates. At this point I’m gathering myself because I just had a tramatic experience in the dressing room and I make my way to the line going through my items before one of workers start yelling at me telling me to hurry up and get to the counter. I politely tell her this is not how you treat customers and she starts cursing at me and telling me she doesn’t care because they’re closed. At this moment I had enough and left all my items and proceeded to the exit where the lady who just cursed me out says I can’t be let out that exit because they locked the doors. So at this point I feel trapped and stuck in an environment with hostile employees who were all women. Eventually one lady says she has the keys and lets me out. I hope management see this because that staff needs to be fired or retrained on how to engage with customers. I will never go back to that store. I have also filled a report and I hope someone...

I went to JCPenny to return some shoes that I purchased online. There were like 6 pairs, and they were in a big box. I carried the box into the store and sat it on the first counter that I saw to ask for the return department. The cashier in that location had her back to the front door that I came in (near the food court) helping a customer. Another associate came up a minute later and told me returns are in the back by the hair salon. I had never been back there, so I walked slowly around the women's clothes and past the shoes (as you are about to pass the shoes, it is right there)to find the salon. I walked towards it, and there was the returns counter. There was no one there when I arrived. No customer or associate. I stood in line and put the box on the floor beside me. The young lady who works in that department was helping a senior citizen pick out a sign in the corner off to the right of the register. Once they were done, they walked back over to the register to check her out. After getting her all taken care of, I picked up the box and sat it on the counter. I told her I was returning the order and that only one box of the shoes had been removed. The others had not been opened or even touched. I suggested she place the box on the floor to make her job easier. She did so and proceeded with the return. When she was done, she told me my refund amount and gave me a receipt. I feel that this interaction was lacking. She was doing her job, and that was it. The first thing is that she had no sense of urgency. She moved as if she had all day to take care of the person in front of her. She never smiled or greeted me, and she barely said anything to me at all. I would prefer a different location...
