VERY SIMPLY... If you're not afraid of the truth, then J&R Jewelers might be a jewelry store for you. I've known Ricky for almost 20 years. He has the transparent honesty you just don't see in the jewelry market today. He has the integrity and professionalism that reflect the man that I hold the highest respect for. You will get a great price for great jewelry that is backed by a great man. He mentored me when I was a new jeweler. -Michael Kuk 2nd Generation Jeweler (retired)
MORE IN-DEPTH... (STOP!! if you really believe normal jewelry store ads)
'Bet on the jockey, not the horse' - is an adage that you need to remember when choosing a jeweler (not to be confused with a jewelry salesperson). In the jewelry industry today, there are just too many half-truths, tricky wording, and shady personalities. Unless you're paying Monopoly money prices at luxury jewelers (Tiffany&Co, Cartier, or Van Cleef & Arpels) you cannot know for sure what you are really getting. There are too many variable in material, labor, and services rendered to understand prices at an untrained glance. That is why a good, trusted jeweler is so very important when it matters. Like when you think you are buying something real.
DONT READ FURTHER UNLESS YOU WANT A HEADACHE!
What you are getting matters in material commodity value and make. MATERIAL involves the quality of the physical materials in jewelry like gold, diamonds, etc. and include [Lab created/synthetic, surface treated/diffused, gold electro-form over silver/base metal, under karating, fracture filling, Natural vs Genuine vs Cultured, Gem quality, and Labor quality]. LABOR is the work that goes into turning gold into a ring, stone into a faceted gem, the difference between Cartier and a Dominion Jewelers (VA). It is why some jewelry worn everyday has problems within the first year vs. a decade. It why some diamonds that are EXACTLY the same grade can be worth only 40% of others. It's why some jewelry is art while others are just a valuable collage of materials.
I'll just stop now. I have a head ache. I should write a book that no one will care to read. LoL

Read moreMy husband had purchased a ring and had it sized accordingly just before the COVID-19 stay at home order went into effect. Sunday evening the band broke. My husband emailed the store, just to inform them. To our surprise, we received a call Monday afternoon , first to wait for the business to open (hopefully in May) and then a second call asking to come to the store on Tuesday (today). I was given his cell number to call once there and he met me outside, took the ring and temporarily fixed it so I can continue wearing until everything is open and we can get it fixed properly. I am so happy with the service and dedication this place has to their customers. I will never go anywhere else to buy my jewelry and recommend everyone to go to...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience here and will definitely be back again. Honest owner, transparent pricing, and quick service. I read the reviews which made me comfortable coming by. There was another shop on N Frederick as well that closed after 43 years. I was so hesitant to try a new place.
I completely agree, this store you can trust! I came to get batteries replaced, new lobster claw, and a ring resized. He recommended I didn’t resize my ring. He stated the band and diamonds on the side would become displaced (again, very honest). He also had a really book with prices to show me options and pricing for the lobster claw. Really appreciated the fact that I felt safe and confident with this purchase. Again, highly...
