First time in and it was a quaint, well-loved feel that has a pretty decent selection of food stuffs. Whether you're going for breakfast or lunch, you'll have plenty enough to choose from. I had a decently tasty sausage and cheese omlette with home fries and onions added, rye toast too. A side of bacon topped it off, with a coffee to wash it down. Very fast service and the food came out nice and hot, so high marks for that! As for food taste and quality, don't go here if you're health-conscious, or if your looking for any greens. The food itself was alright but could be a lot better, and quality too, as it shows in the taste. Unfortunately the coffee wasn't satisfying at all, so don't count on a tasty cup of joe. And finally, despite the fast service, the wait staff wasn't congenial at all unless you appeared to be a regular. Short and kinda snippy is what I got, and definitely was hoping for a more enjoyable breakfast. I would try it again but it's not high on my list, and I wouldn't do it on my dime.

*** Update - the coffee is so good. It's the simple things done right that count. The coffee is somehow always better than anywhere else we go *** The Village Green is by far my favorite breakfast place in Montgomery County, and I mean countywide the Village Green has the best food, service and coffee consistently out of everywhere I've been. Their staff are amazing, the waitresses manage the morning rush smoothly and know their returning customers favorite drinks and usual plates. Their coffee is always good, not a triple mocha something or other, just fresh and hot and somehow better than I can ever brew at home. Weekday mornings are the hidden secret when you can get a quiet table, I vote to move my office and project meetings here. And while their home fries with grilled onions are amazing, the last word must go to their chicken Phili cheese-steak, one delicious mouth watering bite after another!

Great hidden gem. The place was very welcoming with a very open feeling space and REAL plants all along the large windows. The staff was extremely attentive, efficient, and made us feel comfortable. As for food, we were pleasantly surprised by prices and the portions were generous. Our breakfast waffles were delicious and fluffy. Home fries and coffee felt "home made" in the best sense of it! Finally what pleasantly surprised us at the end of our relaxed breakfast is that we could just pay on the way out at the counter, with a tip box next to it, which we assumed gets split among all of the staff, which is absolutely fair considering they paid extra attention and we didn't have one set waitress serving us. We found it to be very effective as well. It left us very satisfied and we will be coming back some time soon!

The VG is a homey neighborhood diner where I eat with a couple of friends almost weekly. I don't know if the food is Michelin quality because I can't afford the Ritz, but it is certainly good enough for me. The excellent waitress Barbara V. prepares a table and coffee for us as soon as she sees us drive in to their lot, and I see that all across the room she remembers customers preferences.

To address some posted review criticisms: the parking lot is small and sometimes encroached by the church across the street - but the lots across the street are also free; I have had to use these once in several years. Staffing is sometimes short - the Help Wanted sign has been up as long as I can remember, but this situation is at every restaurant these days; service is nonetheless attentive. The decor is meh - it is largely olden tin signs but there are live plants; so eat at Hard Rock or a museum cafeteria. IHop has better pancakes - if so, there is an iHop right next door; I don't do pancakes, but usually have a hamburger with all the trimmings possible plus a side of my choice all for under $8. Shredded cheese doesn't melt - well, it melts fine on my friend's chili, and on my occasional omelets! Various ethnicities claim they are avoided in apparent preference to white Anglo-Saxon Christians - absolute nonsense! VG even has a selection not only of Italian and Greek dishes, but of such exotics as Gheimeh Bademjan, Ghormeh Sabzi, Fesenjan, Falafel; and I weekly watch Barbara chat equally with all sorts and colors, ages, and sizes of customers. Food is bland - that's fine by my wife, but they are attentive toward special preparation requests; I usually get my hamburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, onions, pickles, peppers, jalapenos, etc. and certainly need both hands! Just advise of your preferences. The servers expect tips - well darn, who would have thunk it!! So, next time dine in Europe... Some items incur extra charges - perhaps peculiar, such as the very nominal extra charges for wheat or rye - but these are listed at the very top of the menus. The prices are certainly reasonable - especially for this county! You take the check to the counter to pay, standing in a line which certainly must stretch three times around the block.... Hey: this ain't the BWI TSA line! Though there are often one or two people ahead, this provides an opportunity to tell the owner how the meal went for you.

Bottom line: this is a pleasant and responsive place for an unhurried meal, where you will likely be recognized after a visit or two; they readily accommodate small groups by putting two or more tables together, and heed all meal preparation requests that we...

Stopped in for breakfast during the week after dropping car off for service. Had always meant to try Village Green and just never got around to it. Larger than it looks from the outside with little to no atmosphere whatsoever. Pick up a menu and seat yourself, waitress finds you on her next lap through the place.

We had an order of pancakes and I ordered a bacon and provolone omelette with whole wheat toast. Order delivered by who I later learned was a newer waitress in training. After starting to eat my omelette thinking I needed to work in a bit to find the bacon, I realized I was likely delivered the wrong meal - a cheese omelette and rye toast. Took a while for the waitress to come back and I said I was delivered wrong meal, she said kitchen probably messed up, I said it's too wrong to be a mistake. She said she will have them make a new one. Original waitress comes by and says another table was served my meal. Takes longer than what you would think to fire up a new omelette but am delived a new plate - dig in to find a bacon and American cheese omelette with white toast. Close, but not the order.

On check out, you go to counter to pay. Both women were at counter and the long-timer is teaching the new employee how to ring the meal. As she's ringing mine and adding $0.20 for whole wheat toast I say - wait a minute, got served the wrong meal twice and neither time did I get wheat toast, so THAT is where I am drawing the line. The older woman comps the meal and when I hand the credit card, I am asked "are you tipping?", which of course I am, but why ask? I had an unusual exchange with the older woman and peeled off some bills from my wallet and air dropped them in the tip bucket and said I always tip but don't typically declare it during the process.

Food was average. Only grape jelly on table. They seem to have a "you get what you get and you don't get upset" attitude. There are apparently undeclared upcharges on some items. Strange place for sure,...

OH MY GOD, I cannot believe I found such a gem hole in the wall. I can’t contain myself right now. The reason I’m so excited is because about 15 years ago or so these guys had a different location at Rio. They were so good I would go there twice a day. The day the landlord blew up their rent they closed up shop and I thought it was for good. I didn’t know they relocated. I feel like finding this place again by accident filled a huge hole in my life. I know it’s just food but you have to come here to experience it to see what I mean. I’m having breakfast for the first time and it’s so good. I was mostly in love with their dinner menu before. I have an addiction for their chicken Philly. I get it with no cheese but take it how you like. It’s literally like crack. Their coffee is like crack. The environment is so humble and cozy. You just come here, be human, and eat good food. Take a step back in time to when America was original, and beautiful. Talk about the best most classic style of American breakfast you will experience with top notch quality. Get everything on the menu here it’s so good. If you want to assassinate me, you can find me here almost everyday now. There is so much I want to say but I’ll keep it short… I’m so happy this place came back to my life. It just feel so freaking good. Don’t judge the book by its cover. Trust me just try and you will see. And be patient and ready to wait they might be short staffed right now but it’s...
