I had seats that were starting to rip in my 17-year-old Honda Element. I spoke to David, the owner, and told him that I was also considering custom seat covers. He expressed his reservation because I'm sure he's had nightmares trying to make poorly made seat covers look good on an installation. I was considering reupholstering my seats, but it's pretty expensive for a car that's crowding 20 years old. He told me to give him a call when I made a decision. I pulled the trigger on some custom seat covers from a website called seatcoversunlimited.com Once they arrived, I called David and made an appointment to have him install them. I dropped my car off with his son first thing in the morning and said that I'd wait to hear from them to pick it up. I was expecting them to keep it overnight. I got a phone call from David around 4:00 that afternoon who was very excited about the quality of these seat covers that I had ordered and told me the car was ready! My seats look absolutely beautiful and I know that there's no way that I could have installed these covers myself and had it look this good. They look like new! When the Toyota dealership refers you to Bel’s, well, that’s a compliment right there. We went by the shop on Harborside, David gave us a quote and talked with us as friends, not just customers. We brought the truck back the next day, on a Friday and it was ready Monday. This is our 2002 Toyota beach truck and I’ve been using a $3 T-shirt as my seat cover because the upholstery was so torn up, foam was falling out. It looks good as new. So we left my husband’s truck for the same treatment! Satisfied customers indeed! David is 4th generation and his son, 5th generation, upholstery craftsmen. Impressive! We’re lucky to have them in Galveston!!! I can’t wait to take something else there! Update 8/27 we’ve since taken in the 2012 Toyota Tacoma for the drivers seat to be upholstered and it looks fantastic. I contacted David regarding some upholstery needs a couple of weeks ago. I had an overstuffed arm chair, ottoman and two replacement cushions for a different chair. David helped guide me in selecting fabrics, offered advice on its wear and tear and was so engaging. He and I spoke on the phone several times; each time he was responsive and followed through with what he said. We made an agreement on price and completion time. Much to my pleasure, he finished the work ahead of time! His son delivered the chair, the extra cushions and even carried them all upstairs. What a gentleman.
