PHO TAI!!! PHO… TAI!!!!

Say it with me sloooowly… PHOOOOOO TAAAAAI!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Have you ever driven by a place for years and years, and you always tell yourself, one day I’m gonna try that place?!?!

THAT WAS ME with Pho Tai… a little hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant in Galveston. If you drive too fast, you’ll go right past it and never even know it was there.

But for soooooo many years, I’ve driven by and every single time it’s been the same thing, I’m gonna try it one day… I’m gonna try it one day… and TODAY… was that day!!!

When I tell you guys that the moment I took my first bite of my banh mi sandwich, I hated myself!!!

Why… you ask yourself?!?!

BECAUSE I HADNT STOPPED BY SOONER!!! 😣

Guys… gals… when I tell you that I was in Vietnamese food heaven… I was seriously floating in the clouds with this DELICIOUSLY… SCRUMPTIOUSLY… AMAZINGLY… prepared meal.

You ever bite into a freshly baked French baguette and you can’t stop eating it until it’s all gone… just because it’s soooo warm and toasty on the outside and fluffy soft on the inside?!?!

If I’m the only one who does that, then don’t judge me… but the bread on this banh mi sandwich was that but like 100 times better… the pork meat was cooked to PERFECTION!!! Everything in that sandwich blended together like an artist’s masterpiece… I seriously can’t think of anything else to compare it to. It was JUST THAT GOOD!!!

And those Vietnamese egg rolls… ugggghhhhh… fried to absolute perfection… with the fish oil… ya’ll… my mouth is litterally watering right now, writing this and I just had them.

But the SHOW STOPPER… the icing on the cake… the sprinkle of fairy dust to top off this entire meal…

THE PHO!!!!!

Oh guys… how can I describe this bowl of happiness that I just had?!?!

Okay… let me try to explain it this way…

Imagine yourself as a child again (if you are one, then you’ll know what I mean) grandma calls you and says… “come over… I just made a pot of my famous (insert name here) soup…” can be chicken soup… tomatoe basil soup… onion soup… anything… just do you remember that feeling when you put that first scoop in your mouth??? You felt that warm yummmm feeling coming down your body and you just couldn’t have enough of it.

Does that ring any bells for anybody?!?!

Well that was the feeling I had when I took the first sip of my pho.

The broth… seasoned to perfection… the meat… perfectly tender… the noodles… the veggies… SIMPLY PERFECT!!!

Oh guys… I know some people hate these long reviews but I just love sharing when I try a new place and absolutely love it. I try new places all of the time, but if I’m just not too fond of the food, I simply say nothing.

But Pho Tai is one of those places I’d like to stand on top of a mountain and scream it to the world… “YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE!!!”

It just so happens that I was in Galveston quoting a job and when I drove by there, I said today is the day… and boy am I glad I stopped by.

Like I said, I was just kicking myself that I hadn’t stopped by before. BUT… I will start making the drive to Galveston ON PURPOSE… just to have me some Pho Tai!!!

Here is their info in case somebody would like to try it one day… I can PROMISE you… you WILL… NOT… BE… DISAPPOINTED!!!

Ugggh… I’m gonna dream of that banh mi sandwich today… I just know it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review and please have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless… 🙏🏽

This was my first time eating at Pho Tai. I've been craving Pho for some time now and got my fix here. I go way back to the 80's eating Vietnamese noodle soups mostly in the Houston area, and though there is better Pho in Vietnamese communities, this Pho hit the spot. For the price, the soup could have used just a little more noodles, but the meat was plentiful. The broth, which is the heart of the soup, could have had a slightly richer flavor. All in all, I did like my dish, which was Pho with brisket along with the flavor enhancing veggies on the side. The atmosphere is comfortable in what I would consider a small restaurant setting. My appetizer and main dish were served rather quickly. The service was very good, with a gentleman checking up on me frequently enough to ask if all was okay. I would and will eat here again to try the vermicelli dishes and to eat more Pho.

I just stopped by again for lunch and had another bowl of Pho with brisket, and it was even better than before. Two thumbs up for the Pho. Next time, I'll try a vermicelli with...

Excellent pho and Bahn Mi. First time customer and I was a bit hesitant because the exterior looks a bit rough, but inside is fine. My Pho Tai had a decent amount of meat that was very lean and tender. I always get it raw on the side because I like to see it before it gets cooked in the broth. The Bahn Mi pork sandwich was tasty with the roll being especially fresh. The egg rolls were piping hot and flaky and the shrimp spring rolls were excellent as well. Another good indicator of place is the peanut sauce and theirs doesn't disappoint. It was the right consistency and flavor.

Overall, it's the best pho in Galveston IMHO. I have eaten at many pho places and they're not all created equal. This is even better than most places in Houston including out in Bellaire/Chinatown area. Highly...

Edited Aug 2024: Dead/closed down/ out of business. Delicious Pho on the beach! Lovely service by a family-owned business. The owner is very kind and speaks Vietnamese! The broth is very umami, full of flavor and nutritious. I can tell they made it from real bones, not MSG like most other restaurants. We came at 2pm and the place was packed! Clearly people realize good food and flock there for some yummy Pho. Next time I'm in Galveston, I'll definitely come back. Pho me up good!
