This is one of those schools that the learning and teaching portion was great, but with one of the worst deans I’ve ever met. I had been in the Bachelors of Science in Nursing program back in 2020 for almost 2 years and never failed one class. I was successful in the program until on campus instruction started. During that time I had found out I was pregnant(with a possible ectopic pregnancy). It was also during the time where lots of places were requiring the COVID vaccine. Initially, I had a meeting with the dean and my instructor and they all encouraged me to get the COVID vaccine, which to me was fine as I was not against it. That’s when I found out I was pregnant and began to rethink my decisión. I ultimately decided that I did not feel comfortable getting it, and they (my dean) IMMEDIATELY pulled me aside to question my decision. I told them I was not going to get it and that I was going to submit for the exemption and they told me it was not going to get approved regardless of me being pregnant. My dean Xiomara Perez also said to me,”You shouldn’t even be a nurse if you’re not going to get the vaccine and support science.” I was in COMPLETE SHOCK. I mean who in the hell sits so high to feel like they have the right to tell someone else that they shouldn’t be a nurse over a vaccine? Mind you my instructor was in the room the entire time listening to our conversation. In that moment I only responded to the dean saying she was “rude” for saying that to me, because I didn’t want to get kicked out for telling her how I actually felt but if you ask me; she was completely unprofessional, arrogant, judgmental, mean and unsupportive who could careless about my feelings and my baby. I wasn’t going to pick a stupid vaccine that barely had any research done on pregnant women over my child who could potentially bear harmful lifelong consequences of MY decision. Also, after this incident happened I had some classmates reach out to me telling me that they were experiencing similar conversations with her about not being able to get exempt from the vaccine for XYZ reason. I even talked to one of the admission’s advisors and the MD’s I worked for about the incident and they were all in complete shock. After this experience though I was left thinking about how people like Xiomara failed to represent what a compassionate, open-minded, non-judge mental, caring nurse is. She’s the type of nurse who I would NEVER want to take care of me...
Read moreWhen joining this school I was impressed by what they had to offer. As schooling went on I realized that the school officials have no idea what they are doing. This was supposed to be half online and half on campus. Covid broke out and it was switched to online. Some of our main learning was through stimulations. Most of the time these softwares were down. The instructor teaching us was very good at his job and helped us with whatever we needed to be successful. Unfortunately he had to deal with tech support most of the time to try to fix the software. During my last month there was an issue, and we had to be trained by other teachers from different states. We had to change schedules to accommodate this. Thankfully I have some training with the clinical training. Can't say the same for my classmates. There is a 70% attendance rate for the school. If you miss more than 30% you are dropped. Some students seemed to be exempt from this. I had to deal with last minute changes to my externship site because what was set up was no longer was available. Getting last minute emails notifying me that I had to get paperwork done after they were already due. I got asked by an instructor how to sign up for my national exam. Keep in mind the school supplies the first exam fee and how to sign up. I was asked to teach the teacher how to do this. After graduating I didn't get more than a Goodluck make sure to pay your loans in the 6 months. After bringing my complaints to the Dean my main take away from our conversation was "I'm sorry, but you should have told us these problems while they were happening." The last thing, every other Eagle Gate College does a graduation ceremony. Not this one. If you are a first generation grad, you will not get to experience getting a graduation ceremony for your efforts. I give the instructor and financial advisor 5 out of 5, but the school officials a 1 out of 5. This was a very disappointing...
Read moreI am a current student at Eagle Gate and I want to be clear that this review as nothing to do with any of the Professors/ Instructors. It has to do with my experience. I have now been stood up and/or ignored by 4 people more than 6 times. I have scheduled calls with poeple and they do not show, sent emails and follow up emails with no responses and made promises that never happened. 2 of these people were Career Services, 1 was the guy who responds to all these Goggle reviews and the final person was the Regional Dean herself. This is nothing less than unacceptable and unprofessional.
Another thing to bring up is the several flaws with the curriculum. There are typos throughout and even incorrect information. The formatting is never consistent and font styles are more of a create your own adventure type of thing.
Lastly let us chat about the simulation room and Labs. It has been nothing but a mess every time. Whoever they are paying to have these things setup is not doing there job. The instructors have to scramble to get it all together which takes a huge chunk of time. Also the equipment that have doesn't work. The control center always has issues with being able to work properly and the observation room is dreadful. You can't hear what anyone is saying and the ac is so loud and vibrating that it creates feedback sounds on the TV.
Overall, I feel that I am extremely over paying for the services and high tech learning tools that sometimes work. Eagle Gate really needs to consider what they are charging. Best way to explain it is you are paying for a high end 5 course meal and you are luck if you get a cheese burger from a fast food chain. I am already committed to this program and I will see it to the end. However, I would highly recommend what you are willing to pay to become a nurse and is Eagle Gate the...
