Wood's Trading Company — Local services in Gardendale

From the time i walked into this store, down every aisle, stopped to admire an incredible natural leather overnight bag, to the new ice chests with the water bottle suspended under the inner tray , past managers and an overabundance of sales-people, all around the clothes, to the entire back wall of shoes, some of which i would have liked to try on especially the Born sliders, to the fishing supplies, down the wall of backpacks, which i really need for my trip, across to a basket of GIANT squeaky chickens that had no price (but i just found on Amazon for $49),to the great selection of insulated cups…….not one person spoke to me nor even looked at me. I checked my zipper. I checked myself in the mirror to make sure i didn’t have a booger hanger. I looked out the door to my olive green Subaru Outback, freshly washed and ready for a road trip. …glance back at my reflection in the door….admittedly, i could stand to lose 40 pounds. Was that what it was? I was so excited for Wood’s Trading Company to open up in my neighborhood in Gardendale. Mainly because i don’t want to drive to birmingham and i spend a stupid amount of money at REI, however, i will not shop at a store where i am ignored. I would rather have had them tell me “This store is VERY expensive. Please leave.” and i could have come back with a bunch of Osprey backpacks and said “Big mistake”.

I’m a fair fella, and will probably give them another chance. Their presence makes my community look good. I will update on...

Not very happy, first time here today, I needed some mens sandals that there website stated were in stock and we drove 2 hours away, when I got there i walked straight to the back and couldn't find them, I did see women's sandals out in the opening, young guy asked if he could help me and I asked him for the sandals, he looked and couldn't find them, so he walked up front to ask the woman and I heard the lady tell him why does he want those sandals, there put up in the back for winter, so the guy came back to me and said there in the back and we aren't allowed to get them out for you, come back in Spring, man I thought that is BS, I definitely want be back and I will make sure to tell all of my friends that shop there to stop doing business here, and I've posted this same response on all of my social...

It's such a breath of fresh air to have a unique outdoors store with such a wide variety of goods to choose from. I was assisted by Parker in the shoe section. He took the time to listen to me about my foot and back pain, and walked me through a step-by-step foot scan using the Aetrex System.
