Panera Bread — Restaurant in Gardendale

I hated to give this low of a score to Panara Bread because I love Panara Bread. That being said, the Gardendale AL location really disappointed me and my family. Not as clean as we expected from PB. That's one of the reasons PB is one of our favorites. The service on this particular occasion was bad. I would have went with one or two stars, but the food was good and there were some who were trying to make it right. We asked for a table to be cleaned because we had seated my handicap father before I realized that the table was sticky and not clean, my fault. I felt attitude when we asked to have it cleaned. The floors were not clean either, It was a slow time of day! Our order was messed up, but with all the mask and and spit shields I can understand that. They did fix the order but they didn't adjust the price or offer any concessions. We had to ask for napkins and condiments because none were available anywhere. We came in off the interstate tired and hungry so I'm taking that into consideration, but that's exactly when we needed the clean, friendly, and hometown feeling we've enjoyed at every other location. Of course I will eat at PB again. It's is usually the best dinning experience you can get when you are looking for good food at a fast food price. I don't love this Panera.

The service at this establishment was quite disappointing. When we ordered an everything bagel, we were informed they were out of stock, which was understandable. However, when we requested a passion papaya smoothie, we were told they no longer serve it due to a menu change on Monday, even though it was still Sunday at 9 am. I believe the girl taking our order was even the shift lead and she just seemed annoyed by everything. I am sorry for everyone that has to work with her. We settled for three bagels, a bacon egg and cheese on ciabatta, and a sip club drink.

Unfortunately, upon opening the breakfast sandwich, we found it was served on brioche, which resembled and tasted like a McDonald's hamburger bun. I've only eaten at Panera once for my birthday, and that was a pleasant in-store meal. However, my recent DoorDash order was extremely disappointing and frankly, inedible. My broccoli cheddar soup arrived looking over-microwaved, missing the usual small pieces of broccoli, and just appeared old. The avocado on my Chicken Avocado Sandwich was not only covered in prominent brown spots but also completely mushy. To make matters worse, the lettuce and tomato were old, wilted, dried out, and flimsy. The bread on the sandwich was also old and fell apart, which, combined with the other issues, meant the entire sandwich was impossible to eat. The quality of the ingredients and preparation for this order was far below acceptable standards. It's incredibly frustrating to pay for a meal that ends up being this poor.
