Visited this store again today, 6/3/2023. We got the Boom Boom Shrimp and Seafood Basket. Everything was fresh and hot. Our popcorn was a little overcooked, but when mentioned, the manager Denise came to our table and made it right. We love this place! Since I posted 3 months ago, we have visited this location several times. Since then we have tried the potato salad, we both loved it and I have tried the AYCE popcorn shrimp and steamed shrimp. The steam shrimp was perfect! Wouldn't change one thing about it. The popcorn shrimp is great on the first serving, but I've noticed that both times I asked for a second serving, the shrimp seemed overcooked. I spent a little more time looking at them the second time and realized that they are smaller than the shrimp in the first serving and possibly that is why they seemed to be overcooked. My spouse has fallen in love with the red beans and rice also, which is a meal by itself. Also, they have replaced Pibb with Dr. Pepper, which may make some people happy. I was very disappointed because it was one of the things I really enjoyed here. 1st visit review: Overall, we were pleased with our food. My hubby had the grilled shrimp with shrimp slaw, potatoes, hush puppies and 1 corn fritter. His comment was that the shrimp were perfectly cooked with a little spicy seasoning, potatoes and shrimp slaw were good (although they didn't have any sour cream for the potatoes and they needed it). He was very disappointed about the corn fritter. It was about the size of a quarter and he felt it was really just a bite that wasn't enough to even deem whether it was good or not. My husband loves hushpuppies and he gave these a 3. He felt they were small and dry and needed more flavor, possibly more onion.
I had the shrimp and oyster basket with shrimp slaw, hushpuppies, 1 corn fritter and corn on the cob. My oysters were perfect! Shrimp was good and had a light, tasty breading. The corn on the cob had some kind of butter flavored sauce on it. The corn itself was pretty good, but the sauce was a little bit much.
We decided that we might visit again soon and would probably get most of the same things. We were there on a Sunday for lunch and we felt our food came quickly since they were busy. Our server was very good, we think her name was Kailey, and filled drinks when needed. She also checked to be sure our food was okay and the manager also made a visit...
Read moreI hope I get a chance to visit again before leaving the area.
I walked in, and took a seat at the bar. Everybody was a little busy with the crowd that was there already, but as I'm looking over a menu, "Has anybody taken care of you, sir?" I replied, "Not yet. I've only been here a couple of minutes," and the young lady told me to let her know when I was ready to order.
A few minutes later, a different young lady- best smile ever- walked up, "Hello, I'll get what you need. Are you placing an order to take home?" I think my attire gave me away, but that was very observant.
I ordered the crab cakes dinner (which came with hushpuppies), with corn on the cob, a shrimp skewer, and a slice of key lime pie. "Would you like a drink while you wait? Soda, or a sweet tea, maybe?" I chose sweet tea, because it's essential to being. She brought it over, still wearing the best smile ever, and let me know that my order was in. I paid, and slowly chugged on my tea.
A little time goes by, and as she- still wearing the best smile ever- brought my dinner to me, "Sir, could I refill your tea for the road?" The sweet tea was amazing, just the way I prefer, no lemon, and no mention of lemon.
Once I got back to the hotel, which was a walk of just over a mile, I was met with three (3) beautifully-browned crab cakes- definitely lump, corn on the cob, hushpuppies (which were the minced onion mix, so I tasted one, but put them to the side), corn fritters, with a couple of cups of cocktail sauce, as well as a couple of cups of butter sauce. This was all cooked to perfection, and still warm enough to brag on the kitchen staff. The key lime pie was a large slice, lightweight (unusual for me), but just what it needed to be. I should have ordered two slices.
My service was as beautiful, provided with the best smile ever, and I definitely plan to return, hopefully before hitting the road within the...
Read moreAbsolutely the WORST over priced meal I have ever had in my life. To start out my wife ordered a $7.00 drink from the bar that took longer to longer time get than our meals. Once it was brought out it was so strong she could not even enjoy it and left 3/4 of it in the cup . Next we ordered a dozen of raw oysters and 20 minutes later they were delivered to our table and we not fit for eating .The oysters were on a half shell which the inside if the shell was slimy green and did not look good at all. They had a very foul odor and was covered in a dark green/grey/black matter and was absolutely disgusting .I tried one and sent it back and now have my fingers crossed I do not get sick because of it . Once our meals finally came out my wife had to send half of hers back due to it being over cooked . Her fried shrimp was cooked so long it was too hard to even eat . Our daughter had order the Cajun fries they were advertising and after the fact was told they were out of the sauce that went on the fries. She then asked for boiled potatoes when we were told again they were out. A thrid request was for a side of broccoli where again we were told they did not have any. The waitress was nice and told us we would get a free dessert, money off our bill, something for all the trouble that we had experienced. Well we never got asked about a dessert and we were handed a bill for the full amount that was almost $100.00. Do yourself a favor and find another establishment to eat at . This place is a joke and I would not recommend...
