This happened 2 years ago to me, but I still think about it and can't bring myself to try shopping at this location again.
I pulled in at 4:50pm. Mind you, I had tried for weeks to find a way around my schedule to stop in because I love to support WRC and I needed something very specific. I was physically barred from entering by a middle-aged woman who brashly said, "We close at 5." I was a little shocked by the gruffness and, not really understanding what was happening yet, simply responded, "Okay." She then proceeded to say, "So bye." And closed the door and locked it in my face. I was still kind of in shock so I just turned and went back to my car. This whole interaction was very quick and by the time I looked at my clock in my car it was 4:53. I got really frustrated naturally, knowing I had time to look for this specific thing I needed (which I then went next door to the Cherryland Humane Society thrift store and look through the whole store for and was out by 4:58), but really that wasn't why I was so upset.
This is an organization that is meant to help and support woman in tough and terrible situations which are not always/not often visible from an outside perspective. What if I had been going in because I felt it was a safe place to look at my options/resources/seek sanctuary and help? How did she know I wasn't? I understand things happen, I have worked in many lines of work and am constantly mindful of how I may be inconveniencing workers wherever I go partially because of this and try to be understanding that people don'talways know how to process their bad days. But this is an organization in which you simply cannot take it out on your customer if you're having an off day or whatever. At the very least, be kind if you have to close those 10 minutes early. And clearly as she was in charge of closing up, she had a degree of authority in this establishment which concerns me.
Again, this was 2 years ago. I don't know if she's still working there. I suppose I just wanted to out this out there in case it happened to anyone else, and simply to say that please, please be careful even if you just work retail in a resale store for a cause like this. You could seriously hurt and endanger others by your...
Read moreTLDR: Much better than thier other TC location.
About 50% womens clothing and accessories, 5% mensware, 45% household goods, media, and craft supplies. This store basically sells the higher quality goods you won't find at their other location; it's a bit more upscale but without all the boutique frills or prices. Overall a worthy stop when you need something or just want to browse.
Pros: Clean store. Very friendly staff. Variety of stuff. Reasonably priced for the region. WRC charities can be hit-or-miss but are usually still a good cause. Inventory rotation is poor to good depending on the type of item.
Cons: Inventory rotation is poor to good depending on the...
Read moreI love Women's Resource Center Thrift Shop! I find this location to be much easier to access than the one on US-31. The inventory is great, especially for adult clothing, the pricing is great, and I found the exact toy drum today that I'd been wanting for my toddler. As a bonus, everyone is always friendly, courteous, and helpful! And their mission...
