I really enjoyed working with staff at the Traverse City Michigan location. Jake was a very honest salesman and made sure that any questions I had were answered (and that they were answered by the right person if he could not answer them). It will be a long wait time for the furniture I picked out, but that is by my choice (I could have easily picked other furniture that would be to me sooner), and we all have that choice. So far, 5-stars to this company. If all goes well within the next couple of months I won't be back to update this review.
Update 4/5/2021 - I previously wrote on this review about the financing company located inside VCF, AcceptanceNOW. I can say that since I had posted some concerns I was having with the AcceptanceNOW brand, I have had great customer service from an employee of theirs, Randy. She has helped resolve the lack of communication and has helped provide a better experience when using this type of financing. Although, I will probably not finance this way again, I can say that it has become a little easier in the dealings.
Final Update and Review 5/19/2021 - I stand by the above statements, however I have lowered the rating from 5 to 3 stars for two reasons,
1.) The issues had from the initial finance (AcceptanceNOW) customer service was terrible. I would advise against using this financing. I stand by my remarks of it becoming easier towards the end, only because of the Customer Service Rep, Randy.
2.) Upon my initial purchase, I was told by Value City Furniture that it would be the end of May (28th) before receiving my furniture. Then at the end of March the date was April 18th, and I was happy it had moved up by more than a month. I received a call on April 17th, the day before pick up, telling me that it was not going to be here until May 18th now. Okay, bummer, but I kept waiting. Then I get a call around May 13th stating that the furniture would not be here until June 1st, I hung up the phone. Now its May 18th (one of the dates they said my furniture would be in) and I get a text stating that my furniture was ready for pick up. I was thinking that it was a mistake and an "automatic" text, so I call up there and my furniture arrived, no phone call stating that it was here early or the date had been changed again. I had already re-arranged my plans for the 3rd time, cancelled the U-Haul rental, again, based on the last phone contact stating it would not be here until June 1st.
Basically, if I had to say anything, if you really like something there the quality is not bad. The communication was negative and the finance was negative for me. I could understand 1-2 date changes based on what the Customer Service gentleman told me, but 3-4 changes and arriving on a different date than I was told, it wasn't a great experience for me.
Thank you...
Read moreAll, FYI update (9/21/23) to my previous message below: Our beautiful leather powered furniture arrived yesterday after I needed a delay on delivery, thanks to Cheryl, office manager and her understanding our remodel dilemma. She coordinated with Travis, another manager to allow delivery of a portion of our order. Trying to manage w/o living room furniture for weeks, our loveseat and console was delivered on Saturday, before the Michigan vs Michigan State football game. We had no furniture to sit on until Brandon and Robbie showed up just in time. They helped us move other heavy items down to the basement. Then, set up my new loveseat and taught me how to work it. Cheryl told me that once my new flooring is installed, they were willing to make a second trip out here to bring the 3 chair sofa and other items I plan to purchase. So grateful to all these Traverse City employees, include another member I met through Dave. His name is Bill. Both are helping me with other home projects after hours. Thank you , thank you VALUE CITY FURNITURE… wouldn’t want to shop anywhere else in the future. Be blessed, Wendy’s newest update. TO ALL of YOU who are looking for beautiful furniture: After shopping around and online, I had the most wonderful experience at Value City Furniture (VCF) in Traverse City. With such a wide range of beautiful leather selections, I finally chose a Fog color sofa and loveseat. My amazing floor representative, Eli was so helpful and patient with me. She greeted me with a gorgeous smile and darling personality. We picked out paint colors to match the leather and she even found the wall color used at the store for me. A breathe of fresh air from a previous furniture store I stopped at. Her and John worked with me with pricing for my budget. Great managers John and Matt. Very much appreciated the discounts. Linda for helping with a 36 month interest-free card. And , I can’t forget Dave, the man who can fix anything. Can’t wait for delivery and to relax w/ my husband in the new most comfortable loveseat that includes a very sweet console for coffee and charging our iPhones. You really all are truly amazing. Even those who weren’t getting my sale, greeted me and provided opinions for my home selections to come together before I retire. Again, thank you all…I’ll be...
Read moreEditing this to the horrible experience we have had since giving my original review. They have pushed back our delivery now 3 times saying the computers weren’t matching the warehouse stock so even though it says in stock it’s not really available, which I switched the color I wanted because it was the only one “in stock”. Now the day finally comes that I will be getting our delivery and I get a call that the drivers called out sick and they want to push it out another week. I was given 3/22 as a delivery so we moved the old couches out the day before and we are now at 5/13 and I am still sitting on patio furniture in my living room. They have no answers when you call to talk to management. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere!
What a great experience. We went down to look for a new couch and were greeted by Eli. She has such a warm energy and we never felt that “salesman” ick. She was so helpful. She gave us all the time we needed to look around but was readily available, without hovering, if we had questions. We left loving two and wanted to go home to measure to decide which couch we were going to go with. Once we got home we realized that neither would work great so we went on their website to look at other options. So I messaged her to check on the availability of another couch and if it was in the show room to come test out because we knew we wanted to work with Eli. She let me know that they had a version of it in store so I came back down and fell in love with it. The ordering process was quick and easy, and we will have everything to us within 2 weeks so that’s an added bonus! The show room was so clean with so many great options and a wide range of aesthetics it made it so hard to decide. Definitely worth a stop in if you’re looking for a pressure free...
