UPDATE: Ran ~20 empty loads with Affresh tablets, Tide washing machine cleaner, bleach, borax, or cleaning vinegar with a rinse wash after each attempt. Crud is still breaking off into every load. I now have to purchase a specialty part to remove the drum so it can be cleaned - assuming the tub nut hasn't rusted on and is still removable. I've attached updated pictures to show just how dirty it is. On top of that, water is now dripping into the tub when the washer is off. Don't buy here.
TL;DR: Dirty but (mostly) functional used appliances. I recommend going elsewhere as the prices at other stores are about the same, except they won't be quite so dirty.
I have eczema and some, as of yet, unknown allergies that are setting off flare-ups. These flare-ups keep me up at night. In order to control this, I need to be able to wash my clothes in a clean washing machine.
I mentioned this to the people at Staten's Appliances when I asked if they remove the tubs and clean them, to which they said they did. I asked this question 3 times because of how important this is; that caked-on stuff leeches into every load. Tossing some bleach or washer cleaner in just doesn't get all the grime out, especially if it is caked on.
Got my washer and dryer delivered today. Overall, it was a good experience, right up until I got home and checked the tub. Not only did they clearly not clean the washing machine, but they also didn't replace the door switch on the dryer like they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wasted so much money buying these new washers and dryers and having to fix or replace them every couple of years. When I first walked in their store many years ago, the guy that was there took a lot of time to explain to me how every washer and dryer in his store has the same basic components and motors and why the new ones are prone to breakdowns and expensive repairs. I decided to get the refurbished set he had and have had it almost ten years now. Over the years there was a couple times something went out and I am lazy Soni just paid for a service call. But the guys were MORE than fair with their pricing, always explained things clearly to me, and repaired whatever part caused them to come out this time. Recently my washer started making noises so I decided to take a quick course on YouTube and attempt the repair myself. When I called statens and told him what was happening with the washer he, over the course of several days and many more phone calls, walked me through the process of doing the repair myself. I had to drive to the store and paid an entire twenty dollars for the parts needed for the repair. It's rare in today's market to find a business that has nailed customer service the way that these guys in every inch of their business. I recommend them for anyone tired of buying junk products that are designed to only last so long before replacing is cheaper than repairing, or dealing with a service company that only wants you to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI remember this place when I was going to Garland High school. Harold has been there I think 50 years now. There is nothing he canāt fix! He has repaired both my dryer and my oven in the last couple years. You wonāt find a more knowledgeable, honest, nor humble repair guy around. Harold and the guys he employs are always super nice and definitely good at what they do. Always reasonably priced and they have quite an inventory of used stuff. Working and just for parts. Lots of it. Heck my oven was almost 30 years old when I had an electrical fire inside and melted some stuff down. Harold had it rebuilt and working in no time which was awesome because it is an odd size from back in the day and replacing it was gonna be damn near impossible without altering cabinets. That was a few years ago and itās still working good. Anyway sorry for the long review but Iām a firm believer in them as Iām always looking before I take someone my business and I really believe Harold and the guys at Statens Appliances are someone who deserve...
