I came in with an old weed wacker and could not figure out how the line was fed. Three employees were trying to figure it out. As I was leaving because we all had given up, a woman recommended Chris who has worked for HD for over 20 years. Chris was not giving up and mission accomplished. Best service I have ever had, anywhere in a long time.
Thanks again Chris!
Since my last post, I think Chris is long gone and it is a crying shame because these people are seriously lost. The concept of clerk helps the customer? Yeah, nobody filled them in. Hands down the worst HD I have ever had to deal with. I can honestly say around half of them don't care in the least, nothing. They are rude, arrogant, condescending and far, far from helpful. They actually hide a lot during their shifts. I'd like to get into details but why should I explain my stories to people who honestly don't give a *!#+! ItsI pretty simple, they suck and they suck hard. I would tell you to steer clear of the place but I honestly believe that is what they want based on their behavior. It is the spirit of a business that wants to survive let alone excell.
BUT! There's a man, literally just one folks. Dude's name is John I think, he is always in the paint section. That's his department.
This guy knows EVERYTHING there is to know about Home Depot AND knows even more about paint.
I thank you John because I can tell you, YOU are the reason I still go to that mess. You have informed me on things I would have never imagined we would have discussed. Very, very informative and BEYOND helpful. Home Depot (especially Garwood) stays alive because of the handful of people like John that actually show they care. Home Depot is a disgrace to my town of Garwood. A retail embarrassment
Thank you brother.
Update: May 14th, 2019: This store has the WORST customer service I have ever seen. The worst out of ALL the Home Depots I have ever been to, but the absolute worst out of any store in a seriously long time. To sum it up, the bottom line, they honestly don't care. I don't know if it is the wages or personal time, no idea but I do know this, a small, extremely small handful of people care. The rest?!? Just sad. I can't even begin to write the things that have happened to me, I wouldn't know where to start. A lady giving me an attitude because I told her three times to apply the veteran discount, when she forgot, she said, oh, you are already saving enough! Or today, when I asked the same question to three different people and got 3 different, random, sad answers, none of which helped. I asked another guy for help and he said, I'm busy and kept walking. I've never seen anything like this place and I'm blown away they are still business in Garwood. I think they survive based in a small quantity of repeat business because this place is AWFUL. Rude, arrogant, condescending, zero integrity, useless, time wasters. Total garbage this store and they constantly blame it on being a smaller store than regular homes depots. Like they say that in a way I'm supposed to say, OH! Now I understand why I'm treated like garbage. Like it's really a reason to them. It's pathetic. A regional manager needs to open his...
Read moreWhile most Home Depots are great the Garwood NJ location has by far the MOST horrible customer service of any location i have ever been to!!! I was looking for a 14" metal cutting blade for my demo saw, i looked for about 10min after not finding it i searched HD website & it said 6 in stock isle 94, i walked around looking for isle 94 couldnt find it, found a employee they told me it was in the back of store, i couldnt find it, saw the employee again she walked with me & she couldn't find it, i went to front of store, customer service person could they call someone & she did, 10-15 min later im still waiting, i asked her to call again & she did another 10min still no help, she offered to help but didnt know where isle 94 was, at this point i realized id been in the store for almost 45min & was really pissed, i ended up calling the store while i was still in it asking for a manager, after getting the run around over the phone i asked for district managers# & corporate # ...ONLY then did i get a manager on the phone & he actually came out to help me but with somewhat of an attitude. If i really didnt need the part immediately i would have left & not gave them my business about 1hr total time to get 1 thing!! I think what bothered me most was the fact that the store was not busy 2 cashiers was talking to each other because they had no one in line most of my wait, i could only find 2 ppl working the floor & neither knew where isle 94 was!! Upon checking out the check out lady was nice &...
Read moreI'm giving this HomeDepot along with the others I have visited in the last couple weeks âââ Garwood along with the Elizabeth HomeDepot are great local big box stores offering the basics for home improvement. My review is reflective of the staff. These stores aren't crowded. There is a steady flow of customers...from the ones who know exactly what they need and where to find it to those of us who are familiar with our local HomeDepot but are there looking for a specific item/material to address an unexpected home repair. I have found myself in an aisle looking around with a staff member there stocking shelving and not with another customer acting as if I'm invisible. Is it too much to ask that the staff just offer a general " hi, is there anything specific your looking for?" Or "Can I help find something for you?" It takes 15 seconds to offer help. Is this not why people are hired to work on the sales floor? Staff members congregating and ignoring customers is something I cannot understand? A simple hello could be the difference from a sale to someone not finding what they need and...
