I am not stupid, I don't come to Magic Grill for a 5 star dining experience. But what I do expect is a decent meal for what I now pay at this establishment. I have been going to Magic Grill for almost 20 years, since I was in elementary school, so I believe that my review would be one that you could trust.
The establishment itself is in much need of a makeover. it has gone significantly downhill in terms of cleanliness. I am writing this review because when I was there eating lunch the other day with my family I happened to glance down at my placemat and notice a mouse turd stuck to it. I did not notice it until nearly the end of the meal but it was definitely a rodent turd. I wasn't going to say anything to the waitress because I knew I wouldn't be returning after that anyway.
You kind of just feel dirty when you walk in and nothing has changed since I was a kid. From the old chairs or ripped booths, or the dirty floor tiles and unkempt area where they cook the food. The price has also increased which I understand because of the economy but 3 bowls and a kids meal was almost $90. I am well aware that it is supposed to be all you can eat but I don't ever see anyone eat more then one. For $90 I would much rather go someplace else where the beef doesn't have the consistency of shoe leather and is much cleaner, at least on...
Read moreDelicious Mongolian noodles with a neat experience woven in. My 2 friends insisted I try it on my trip out east as they eat here often and love it, and I'm glad they did because it ended up being incredible.
You start by preparing a bowl yourself from a bar of ingredients like noodles, partially-frozen meats, and veggies like onion, scallion, bellpepper and broccoli. After you assemble it all, you give it to a cook behind a counter who pours it all out onto this large, circular griddle and cooks it for you within a couple minutes & puts it into a clean bowl once done. It's essentially a build-your-own noodle dish place and that's really neat. I'm uncertain if this type of restaurant exists elsewhere, but even so it was a cool experience for me.
The pricing isn't "low" by any means but it's totally reasonable for an occasional outing. Workers are friendly and tend to you and care that you're enjoying your meal. Ingredients are prepared, cooked and presented well and the final dish is very personalized and unique.
Definitely give this place a try if you're a fan of Asian noodle dishes and in the area; you're sure to...
Read moreMy husband & I were delighted to find a Mongolian BBQ spot in NJ. We experienced this type of cooking many, many years ago in Napa Valley. The Magic Grill is about 25 miles from where we live but I tell you that it was well worth the trek which we will definitely be doing again. We were greeted at the door by the owner, John. We were very familiar with how to approach the array of ingredients you choose for what you want. There included your choice of meat followed by an array of very fresh vegetables. In addition, there were several sauces and oils. All gets cooked on an open flat surface tossed using bamboo sticks. Whether you have experienced this type of cuisine before or not, you should go to the Magic Grill! The food and staff are great. Can’t wait to go back! Oh by the way, it’s all you can eat and includes soup and dumplings. Yum! Also, hello to the owners wife who assisted us as we left. I highly recommend checking...
