Food Lion — Local services in Gastonia

Rudest Food Lion I have ever been to, I’ve gone here multiple times, I used to go to the other one and wow there really is a difference! The front end staff are extremely unfriendly, I’ve had two occasions where I went to check out and two separate boys refused to say a word to me. The first time I was asking if his lane was open, I had one item. And I guess his shift ended or he just didn’t wanna help me, didn’t say a word. When I put my ONE item down he walks away! He didn’t point me into the right direction and the manager had to jump in to help. The second occasion I said hello to the check out person, unsure if he was unfriendly to the person in front of me, absolute silence, I was shocked at the lack of customer service, didn’t even ask if I had an account or bags or anything! The only word I heard was a total, I paid got my things and left. I said thank you, no response. Unsure if it’s because this particular food lion doesn’t like PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE ME or if they are just improperly trained to handle people! I wish there was self checkout so I wouldn’t have to deal with such degrading behavior and I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon...

I went ahead and delivered the ol' fifth star for this location because it compares well against other food lions... food lion tends to be less flashy than most grocery stores, yet passes on the savings to the customer... this store has a small hot food bar and nice deli/bakery area... as it is slightly nicer and carries a few more products than most locations, it still manages to have the same low prices... they also mark down meat and premade foods with manager special stickers, which provide good savings on steaks, burgers, and such... there is usually a a manger on the floor and they generally greet customers as they pass by, in case you need any assistance... they also keep a lot of lines open so there is generally a cashier open and waiting for me as i prepare to check out... although it does sometimes make for an awkward passing by when I'm not yet ready to check out so I have to kinda walk by and try not to make eye contact with an eager cashier, ready to check me out... all around nice experience and I love half a mile from a huge publix store, but still drive 5 miles away to this store on a regular basis to take advantage of the...

I normally don’t do reviews, but this Food Lion is the best! I recently tried their curbside pickup and they were phenomenal. Not only did they substitute only 2 things (and this is simply because I wasn’t sure which one they had in stock when I picked...not their fault), but they were done 2 hours prior to my pickup time! They always have great selections for any diet or celebration. It’s clean and the workers are all very friendly. It makes grocery shopping...
