After moving to Howell and not having visited a Meijer in years I decided to try the Meijer in Howell. I created an online pickup order. Here goes:
I entered the Meijer parking lot from Latson Rd. I drove down 5-6 rows, no signs for pickups. I almost left and decided to try another half dozen rows, ABOSOLUTELY NO SIGN FOR ORDER PICKUP. Extremely annoyed, I decided to drive down the S parking lot isle, heading W. I see a sign for Pickup Orders - presumably straight ahead, at McDonald's?? I decided to take one last show and I head N towards the W end of the building, and there it was, hiding out of sight, with NO directional signs on my long journey.
Perhaps there are useful signs when you enter from Grand River, next to the McDonald's? One day, just for kicks, I will check that out.
If a place cannot direct it's customers as to where to pickup and order, then how can one expect this Meijer to handle their products properly, or to observe expiration dates as expected.
To make it worse, the Meijer App doesn't confirm that you have entered your parking spot the app just hands, with NO confirmation. I am told that this has been a persistent problem.
The only good experience on my first journey was that the order pick attendant was very nice, helpful and competent. She should immediately be promoted to store, or possibly, regional manager!
With Meijer not performing well in the last decade+, I wonder if corporate management will ever figure out how to improve Meijer's standing in the marketplace - based on my experience, this is is doubtful. This isn't rocket science. As always, manage, lead, or get out of the way and let others do it right, or after while on the same path, it just...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMade to feel incredibly uncomfortable while shopping with my family. We were perusing the scents for body washes and shampoos when I noticed we were being watched by an employee. Obviously under suspicion of shoplifting due to us being in the same aisle as personal lubricants, I asked my fiance to go to the next aisle as i perused that selection myself.
Loudly asked if I needed assistance while shopping for lube next to a female customer, I declined and informed the employee that shopping for such a thing was generally embarrassing enough without someone making it obvious what I was shopping for to anyone nearby. The employee moved off, and I selected an item and moved to the next aisle where I placed it into our cart.
It is at this point that the same employee comes back to glare angrily at me as she crosses in front of our aisle. Annoyed by the clear distrust written upon her face, I demand she either make her unfounded accusation immediately or move away and leave me and my family alone. Shocked, she lowers her head in defeat and moves off.
I decide at this point, annoyed with her clear and obvious intrusion for unfounded reasons (from an employee who lacks the ability to even shadow a suspected shoplifter) that I have had enough of being made to feel like a common thief as I shop with my family, and pay for my items and leave. I doubt I shall be returning to Meijer on Grand River and Latson rd ever again. At least it's a legitimate Loss Prevention Officer who tails you...
