Gentry Ace — Local services in Gentry

I sadly won’t be returning to this Ace location after years of being a customer. The store is clean, the prices are reasonable, but the way the manager and leads treat the employees is beyond reproach. Went in a few short weeks ago and witnessed a young/female (I assume newer) employee being absolutely humiliated for not answering a store phone fast enough while she was completing another task. I understand you have to manage employees and get the best out of them but this was beyond any strict enforcement. The girl cried but continued her work like a professional. I came in again a week later and watched as the same store manager stood near the phone with a female lead as it rang and rang for minutes, until he finally found someone to blame and scold, when he easily could have put the company before himself and helped the calling customer. Strict management is a part of a successful business but there is a truly toxic environment from the ownership down at this location. I’ve watched helpful workers drop like flies at this location. I’ll just go out of town for hardware needs...

I had done a post about a year ago, I prefer to support small businesses.. unfortunately I went in 8/15 to return a hose end that my GF got for me, she said I can only refund one cuz you don't have the other, I said I only bought one.. looking at the receipt I have been charged for two, no she did not buy one for herself, after explaining I had only bought one but been charged for two.. I would still only be refunded for one.. I said well that's okay I don't need to come in here anymore I guess, the red-headed older lady said we can afford to lose a customer... I know dirtbags have a million tricks but I'm not one of them, but double charge me for something, and then make an insulting comment?? It's a shame what people...

The staff/workers are little pushy for you to buy their stuff when you ask for help, but they are friendly and helpful. The store is very cluttered and a little disorganized. But what is mostly inconvenient, is three times in a row, I’ve had to wait on a cashier for at least five minuets. Which I understand isn’t an extremely long time, but all three times it wasn’t busy at all, and there were at least two of us standing in line waiting on the cashier. I understand if you’re very busy, but three times in a row with the store not being busy, it should be something that needs to be addressed. I like this place and will recommend it, but the clutter and cashier situation is something I suggest needs to...
