Pioneer Pizza — Restaurant in Gentry

I am new to this area and just happened to drive by this spot and decided to drop in for a quick bite to eat. The folks are super friendly and you can tell that they know and love the locals. It felt a little like walking into someone's home and being surrounded by that sense of belonging and family. It was really special, and I felt that right away. I was eating alone, so I didn't order a pizza and instead opted for a BLT. This was just a fantastic sandwich in every way. It comes on a buttered and toasted bread with lots of bacon, juicy tomatoes and crisp lettuce. I am really looking forward to coming back to try the pizza or the calzones. This is just a delightful little slice of small town American food and hospitality and I highly recommend it!

I ordered a chicken salad sandwich. Noticed on the menu I could get it on Rye bread. You have the option of dark and light rye bread. Which I thought was even better. Who doesn't like options. They were not busy and although I was hungry when I arrived. It seemed as if it took for ever for our food to arrive. When I did get my food the bread was burnt and as hard as a crouton. I was never even given toasted as an option. Chicken salad on the cedar shingles they called bread. They could not even manage to bring 4 sandwiches to the table at the same time. Only one of them had to be cooked. Guess that was so they could burn the bread. The rest of the people at our table were very please with their sandwiches. 2 barbeque and one beef and cheddar. Get the Janelli!!!! Best calzone (not calzone) I have ever eaten!!!! I like Sausage, Pepperoni, and their special sauce :) :)

I might have had my favorite Calzone of my life today!!!! It had a cracker like crust that was so flaky and delicious 🤤

Seriously I couldn’t wait to take each bite and my mouth got so excited. I stumbled upon Pioneer Pizza 🍕 in Gentry Arkansas and so so so happy I did.

They call this item the “Janelli” $7.50 “Our version of a calizone with 3 toppings, cheese and Italian dressing”

Make sure and get it the way it comes with the Italian Dressing. I ordered marinara to dip it in, and honestly it was so good I didn’t even use it!
