Since first vacationing in Holland, MI, about five years ago, The Found Cottage, has been one of my "must stop to shop" places. I truly enjoy browsing through the eclectic mix of vintage and new items; furthermore, I love spending time to visually absorb their displays for inspiration. However, today for the first time, I walked out of the store feeling frustrated and somewhat angry. I took two vintage items to the cash out desk, and asked one of the young ladies behind the desk to hold them for me while I quickly looked around for another one that I also wanted to purchase. After a few minutes, I returned to pay for my items only to find out that some other individual had purchased one of the items I had asked the store staff to hold for me. One of the cashiers explained that the other customer had come up to pay for her items, and when asked if one of the items I had left to be held for me was hers she said "yes," and purchased it. Of course, she purchased the one item I had been looking for a few years and that I could finally afford to purchase. I was left wondering about why a person would lie about the ownership of a vintage piece when she had not selected the item; as well as, felt frustrated about this person taking something that I envisioned as already mine. Additionally, I also felt some anger at the young lady that didn't seem to care enough to keep watch over the item that was placed under her care. All in all, this episode left me disillusioned with the store which for so long I held in high regards and above many others. From now on, what is more likely going to be my advice for other shoppers at TFC is, "don't let your items leave your care or someone else will...

Adorable shop, with a great mix of vintage antiques, and trending home items! A lot of people have commented on prices, and frankly some things are expensive. HOWEVER, I shop at small businesses to support small business owners. If I want cheap, generic home decor I'd go to Hobby Lobby, Home Goods etc, where the employees suffer at the hands of the low costs. Most these items are from local artist, jewelry makers, and antiquers, or other small shops across the country such as Rifle Paper Co, Milk Barn, and Cavalinni Papers. This is a beautiful, friendlly, local shop, who supports other local businesses. I've bought items from handmade jewelry, paperstock, bathbombs, cards, scissors and prints; and have enjoyed every item. I LOVE the fact they've expanded on their children's section, and are constantly rearranging the shop, which always provide inspiration. To me, it is like going to a nice restaurant.. I'm paying for the experience and customer service more than I am the product... Which are still...

We discovered The Found Cottage on the way to do some antique hunting and stopped for a visit; and we were glad we did. The store had an eclectic collection of vintage, antique, new, and craft items. There was something for everyone: clothing, jewelry, antiques, photos, books, and lots of pieces suitable for home decor. There was too much to list here.

We really liked the way that the store was set out and organized. The collections had a curated feel and the store was clutter free, unlike so many similar stores. The price points (at least for the vintage items with which I am most familiar) were a bit higher than what one might find at a vintage store that was more like a flea market, but the premium is worth it to have the pleasure of browsing a well maintained store with a curated collection.

The staff member who helped us was friendly, knowledgeable, and packed our items with care. We will definitely be...
