We went there for a pre-release for mtg where it wasn't a draft - we were building from the pre-release bundle but then playing. It was our first time here. My initial impression was wow we just found a hole in the wall place for board games. Most game stores we have been to tend to be focused on warhammer or a variety of tcgs but this one had an abundance of boardgames which as a boardgame fan I was thrilled. However, the store is really hard to navigate. It is overly packed. They may not host a lot of events but they do some and I would suggest they don't bother. They only have two small tables so you might be able to fit 10 at best but really about 8 is all you are going to fit. While sitting there and looking around I almost started wondering if we were really in a hoarder's house. Again, for game nerds this might be heaven but the maneuverability was tough. Everything was slightly overpriced compared to other stores in the area. Packs of cards were mostly at least $1 more a pack than everywhere else and some of the boxes were priced as much as $10 over that I saw. What really turned me off though is the lady (owner maybe?) I believe it was her and her husband. She was over the top adamant and forceful that this is a friendly competition that they only do friendly there. She was so intense it did not come off as friendly. We are very competitive but also very easy going. The competitiveness is more internal with our own stuff than anything. We love playing with new people and helping where we can or learning more from others. Again, she was so insistent that we be nice I was thinking what in the world did I come off mean? I will say if anything I tend to be a doormat as I am too nice and everyone usually just walks over me so I don't believe this is the case. Also, while she wasn't quite as a adamant mostly because I believe she was busy the next group that came in received the same talk. I ended up inquiring during my checkout with the male helper who I believe was the husband if they normally have issues at the store with people crashing out as I thought maybe that's why she was being so up front but he said not usually but they have had a lot of cheating in the past. Later on he shared with the group he really hates competitions which is why they rarely host them. In my opinion, don't host them then. People may be driving an hour (like us) to show up and find out that while most places seem to get 16 or more people at the event that they have 8 at best which if you play a lot you know the issues that semi creates. Also we are paying the same amount as most of the stores up to $10 over to play but walking away with way less packs of cards because they don't do winners just everyone gets x amount of packs when done. Again, that's their prerogative but maybe list the information online. If it wasn't for the weird customer service issues I would give them a 3. It was okay. I would maybe come back for a board game and hope I am not being told how nice we need to be while shopping before opening our mouths to say hello. I still wouldn't rate it above a 3 though as holy heck you couldn't walk, things were overpriced, while they had a ton of games to borrow in their library of games while in the store finding space to play would be nearly...
Read moreI like this store. The selection is fantastic! They carry many games, expansions, and cards that I haven't even seen online. The owners are super helpful too! The prices are a little higher than the huge online retailer (looking at, you, Amazon), but you can go home with what you want today. Besides, I'm always about supporting local businesses. Id always rather spend a couple extra dollars to keep my money local. If you're looking for a board game, this is a great...
Read moreAlways a great selection of games. As a miniature wargamer, I am constantly amazed by thier selection. While they focus on family friendly games suitable for even the most casual of gamers, Keith and Tammy are always willing to go above and beyond to help find those rare gems of the various gaming disciplines. The store needs to expand into the adjacent buildings as there is too much awesomeness concentrated...
