I been at this school for several years. I do like the teachers, however I donât like the school.
The school insists that theyâre trying to do the best for students, but they never fulfill that promise. Every single year they say the same thing, that theyâre always trying to improve the school, but nothing changes. One of the things they promised was the k12 zone. On the k12 site it mentions the k12 zone and how everyone has access to it, the thing is that is a lie. I have emailed multiple teachers about it and theyâve all mentioned that right now the AZVA k12 HS zone isnât open at all. Weird right? Because their tik tok mentioned that the azva hs zone is open. One of my teachers says itâs not because thereâs no moderators. Itâs been months since the k12 zone has been released, yet itâs not open to azva high school
Itâs a pattern I been seeing every year, the school makes promises to be better, but nothing changes. They donât do anything to be better. I been here for years, and thereâs barely been anything different. I remember 1. The switch to Newrow, and 2. The k12 zone. Those really are the only changes, thatâs it. And the k12 zone doesnât even work.
I donât think the surveys do anything. They send one out every year to improve the school, but I believe they donât even look at the surveys because again, nothing at the school changes. The only other change is the switch from 1 hour classes to 30 minutes. I really appreciate that they did this because now I get assignments in on time. My classmates are more engaged after this change, so Maybe there is hope that things will be better. If they were able to do this, then maybe, just maybe the school will make more improvements.
Iâm writing this because I actually want a better school. I care about school. I wished that k12 actually fulfilled...
Read moreMy experience has been absolutely wonderful. This is the second time we are with AZVA, the first being when we first came to the state in 2018 and I needed the flexibility due to my hectic schedule. Fast forward three years and we are back with AZVA and the experience keeps getting better and better. The curriculum works for both of my students. There are help labs (a godsend), TutorMe (my daughter loves them almost as much as she loves her teachers), social clubs, support groups for Learning Coaches and our students, and more. AZVA finds ways to keep the students engaged and feeling part of a whole. No one is left behind. It is just not possible.
My children are both autistic, one in general ed and my son is in the SAILS program. This is the first time in his scholastic career that I have encountered a teacher Rachael Minnis) and therapy staff (Jennifer Diallo, Yolanda Flores, and Laurel Mendoza) who have listened to me as my son's advocate and he has FLOURISHED! I have always thought him capable, but had no idea until this year, of exactly what he could accomplish. I can never say thank you enough, never give enough praise, and I will never forget those who have helped us along on our journey. I cannot leave out the sixth grade teaching staff as well who answered all of my student's emails when she needed clarification and a little extra help and encouragement (my student has several teachers and I wish I could name them all but I hope they know I appreciate them immensely!) Well done, AZVA on the hiring of these lovely teachers. It is because of them that my children want to (and will) return for the next school year.
Forever Thankful,
The...
Read moreCondescending teachers who are more than willing to let kids fall through the cracks. The middle school portion of this school is a joke filled with teachers who just want to look good, not actually be helpful. I told them all several times to text as communication. I would get calls as early and late as they felt filled with generic messages where they couldn't even use my students name because they didnt know them and didnt care to, just doing their due diligence. Any time I tried to reach out to one of these teachers I was met with attitude and no real answers or help. Now im trying to figure out the summer school they say my student HAS to go to, and of course radio silence. I can get blasted all day and night with generic calls and emails that I can't figure out how to respond because I have no idea who im responding to, but you can't help my child get into "MANDATORY" summer school? Its unreal. The elementary school however was so easy. We had a tragedy happen in our family at the very beginning of the school year and my sons 3rd grade teacher made it so easy on him and us. Easy to communicate, TEXT me when something was needed, and never made me or him feel less than. Truly appreciate her kindness. However the middle school teachers KNEW what had happened and still chose to be as difficult to reach as possible and always made my other children feel like they weren't worth the time. And when you use initials to refer to someone instead of their names, I can see why they felt that...
