What a wonderful shopping experience!!
From a disability perspective, this shop is rather accessible for several reasons. There are 2 Handicap parking spaces outside. The front door has no steps and is easy to enter when using a mobility aid. The aisles are very wide, allowing space for mobility aids, service animals, companions, etc. The products are clearly labeled and both staff & the website have amble information on stocked products. The checkout has a card reader that can be moved around for easier access, and the check-in space for weighing & labels is lower, around waist high, allowing for wheelchair users to access independently. The dressing area has no steps to enter, and it seemed possibly large enough for a companion to help with trying on clothing if needed. From a sensory perspective; the lighting is amble but not glaring, the music is not super loud, and the scent of the space is subtle & herbal.
Some products are higher up, and some products are by nature heavy. This is where the 5-star staff comes in!! For my first shopping experience here, I explained to the employee that I had a disability and would need assistance filling my containers. They were incredibly kind to take care of everything, doing all the lifting, and double checking before filling containers just to be sure everything was correct for me.
I felt very welcome in this lovely refill shop, and can’t wait to come back for another enjoyable, and accessible, shopping trip. Thank you to the kind staff behind the desk for assisting and...
Read moreI love stopping at zero waste stores during my travels. This one did not disappoint. There is just about every kind of home good and/or hygiene products + bulk refill. They have a small collection of free jars you can use if you forget to bring your own or you can purchase nicer vessels. I love the idea of a secondhand clothing selection as part of the zero waste store! They also feature products from local artists. I was able to get a facial cleansing bar and a replacement brush for my dish scrubbing brush. It is very close to the airport so if you are visiting from out of town, I recommend stopping there first rather than at the end of your trip so you can get products to use...
