I love sushi! I love good sushi even more!
Sushi Teri has great food. The menu is about 2/3 sushi with the remaining 1/3rd comprised of Asian fair hailing from different parts of the continent . Most of the food, however is a rendition of Japanese cuisine.
I was impressed at how quickly our food arrived (party of 5 no less) without any sacrifice of quality.
Another perk... it's affordable. Good sushi and cheap sushi are different things. While I wouldn't call this cheap, I will say that it's not prohibitively expensive for most folks. Maybe not every night but even as a penny pincher I definitely wouldn't panic at the thought of shelling out for the bill here on date night.
My recommendation: The sashimi dinner is a great meal for those who want to go light on the carbs. My favorite, however is the sushi combo. It comes with 2/3rds the sashimi as the sashimi dinner but has an assortment of sushi instead. I like it because I get the best of both worlds for an almost identical pricetag. Each comes with soup, salad and rice.
Drinking alcohol at restaurants can be pricey but if you want to loosen up while you sushi up they have you covered. 10 bucks gets you a massive 36 ounce mug of Sapporo beer. Even as a person who doesn't like the taste of alcohol I still enjoy a giant crispy Asian brew with my sushi.
So there you have it. Worth a go if you are in the neighborhood. I try and eat there every time I'm in town. I used to eat at Somethings Fishy in downtown Santa Barbara but switched because I liked Teri better.
I don't know if He is still there but the last few times I went there was this old guy working the sushi bar who knew EXACTLY what he was doing. I think he may have been the owner. Anyway I thought it was fun to watch him work his sushi making skills so if you go by yourself or with a date (it would make for some great first date conversation during an awkward silence) I recommend...
Read moreMy 11 year old daughter is infatuated with sushi and she started 6th grade today so I thought what a treat . So the two of us and a few close friends made the trip out to Sushi Teri in Goleta . We should have known this was going to be a bad experience from the beginning . After being seated it was a longer than usual wait for even water. After waiting a additional 5-10 min are server arrived and took both drink and food order for the table. Drinks arrived followed by the appetizers , 15-20 min later the food arrived well some of it . We waited around and watched other tables eat and leave mind you they'd been seated 20 min after are table. No server in sight only a busboy who was trying his best to help . Usual you a check in how is everything or can I get you anything, not here. At the 45 min mark I asked the busboy because he was the only one who seamed to care what was happening. I explained that most of the food we ordered hadn't arrived at the table he commented He thought he saw it sitting there for a while. A person who we believe to be the manager approached the table and insisted he delivered a poke salad he never did all the plates remained on the table as proof mainly due to the poor service. One would think the manager would make things right, maybe some sort of discount or comp or even offer to package up the rolls that were never served, that's how you take care of misshaps make it right. I will never recommend this poorly run place to anyone !!! What a disappointment ! It's unfortunate my daughter had to leave hungry due to your incredibly slow and terrible service !!! What a disappointment !!! So much for the special treat thanks for...
Read moreUnproffessional atmosphere. Several guys hanging out.behind the sushi bar having full conversations in Spanish while watching t.v. One Japanese man (head sushi chef that prepared my sashimi) in street clothes, reading a newspaper, during peak dinner hours. Good fish quality. Over priced for the quantity of sashimi fish I recieved. Fish to rice ratio on nigiri 20/80 rice heavy. Awkward ordering experience at the sushi bar. Spanish speakers taking my order and trying to communicate what I said to a Japanese speaker and then back to me for clarification. Any questions I had were directed to a white dry-erase board above the bar. This place could be so much better with a few changes. I recomend if sitting at the sushi bar, ordering from the wait staff whom were very freindly if also...
