I am attempting to write this thru the tears that are streaming down my face so please bare with me thru the raw emotions right now. I adopted my girl Lucy Grace from the Local Animal shelter 7 years ago December. She is a Pitt/Mix and as most know there is such a stigma that is carried with that. Lucy is gracefully aging but thru those years one thing is that when it comes to Lucy getting her nails trimmed we have always had to take her to the Vet. Because of her unknown before us Lucy has never reacted well to having her paws touched. She isn't aggressive in anyway, it makes her very anxious and we can tell that is something that she does not like. So for 7 years we have had the vet do it and often times, especially during Covid the Vet had to sedate Lucy to have her nails done. Today I wet into PetCo with Lucy to purchase some pet Shampoo for Lucy and one of our other dogs. While looking at the different options of shampoos a young lady approached me and Lucy and asked permission to pet Lucy. I said of course. We had a brief conversation about Lucy's age and Lucy and as we were talking she told me that she was one of the groomers for PetCo and said that if I wanted she would be willing to trim her nails. I gently laughed it off and explained her situation and declined. She gently challenged me and said that not only would she be able to trim her nails but she would be able to paint them too. I laughed and accepted her challenge. We went to her grooming station and she got Lucy signed up. She told me to go ahead and go stand in line to pay and she would bring Lucy to me. Before I could even pay she was done with Lucy AND had her nails painted. In Lucy's 10 years.. she has never had painted nails. In the 7 years I have been Lucy's mom I have never NOT been next to her needing to hold her head while her nails got trimmed. (Except during Covid) I am beyond thankful! I can not recommend Victoria. I don't have her last name. I wish I did. But I can tell you that it is October 6th 2024 and I was in your Grand Island Nebraska store. This young lady is amazing! I was bawling like a big baby in your store. I'm sorry for that! But I feel like I need to tell you how amazing this...
Read moreI have never in my life been told I couldn't buy a 29 cent goldfish until I could prove that I had a big enough aquarium already set up and running to put it in but I could purchase it if I was I was going to feed it to another animal! Goldfish patrol interrogation was pretty extreme for 29 cent fish and we were questioned for a good 20 minutes by the goldfish agent that was on duty yesterday and I am surprised that a back ground check wasn't required! They said they couldn't let me purchase the fish for 29 cents if there was a chance it might not have the proper accommodations but have no problem if you are buying it to feed it alive to another animal?? Really? I was willing to take a gamble and risk the loss of 99 cents to get my Grandkids a fish after we passed the screening process . I have had fish my whole life and they have lived for years and not once was interrogated like the fbi for a goldfish. Honestly though 3 small goldfish requires a 55 gallon tank? Why do they sell the goldfish bowls that I.have seen fish in if you have to prove that you have a tank bigger than our TV or " they can't sell you one" I actually was surprised the petco agent didn't require a visit to the house to verify! They refer to them as " feeders" and no problem with them being eaten alive but if you don't have a 5 star aquarium with every accommodation you aren't qualified to spend the 29 cents to purchase a fish to enjoy. I hate to think of what I would have to go through or what I have to have to try to get a cricket from there? Petco patrol is worse than the fbi. Also- day 2 and all 3 fish are doing well! It's pretty screwed up when it's easier to purchase a gun than to buy a...
Read moreWe have had very good care for our German Shepherd Sugar Baby with her grooming at Petco! They are always welcoming and loving towards her and we also had a trainer, Tara, be very helpful for us the last time we had Sugar Baby groomed. I was in line to pay my bill and there were lots of people in the store and Sugar Baby was very stressed. I was trying to get her to calm down and stop whining but what I was doing was not helping her at all! Tara came up to me very calmly and started talking with me about how she was stressed and the different ways she could tell. Then Tara showed me the treats in her hand and said that I could help Sugar Baby by getting her attention and then rewarding her for looking at me and give her one of the treats. I tried it and Sugar Baby started getting calmer a bit then a bit more when I kept telling her good girl and giving her another treat. I asked for her name and shook her hand and told her how appreciative I was for her timely help! I just took Sugar Baby in today for her next grooming and I got her attention before we went in and gave her a treat and it worked wonderfully for a much calmer walk into the store....
