It is abundantly clear to me that Marie has an incredible passion for animals. When my roommate adopted a kitten through a friend of a friend, we discovered about two weeks later that he had FIP. Upon bringing him to Amigo Animal Clinic, we were devastated when they sent us home without offering any treatment. They provided no guidance, not even suggestions to make the kitten comfortable in his final moments. While I understand that some situations are beyond treatment, the complete lack of empathy was shocking.
Desperate for help, I began searching online for any possible relief for the kitten and came across Loma Cat House. I read that Marie might be able to assist, so my roommate reached out. To our surprise, we received a call from Marie at midnight. She insisted that my roommate bring the kitten to her home immediately so she could start treatment. Her urgency and willingness to act without delay were remarkable.
That night, Marie began doing everything she could to help. The next day, she met with us twice more, offering guidance and care. She was appalled that the vet hadn’t even administered IV fluids to hydrate the severely dehydrated kitten. Without hesitation, she started an IV herself. When we asked about the cost, she told us not to worry, saying her priority was simply to make the kitten as comfortable as possible. I was truly amazed by her generosity and the way she dropped everything to help two strangers and their kitten.
Sadly, it was too late to save him, and he passed away the following day. Despite the heartbreaking outcome, Marie’s compassion and efforts brought us tremendous comfort. It meant so much to know that every possible step had been taken to help him.
A few months later, both my roommate and I decided to adopt kittens from Marie. They are perfectly healthy and happy, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Knowing that I can always turn to Marie and her team for advice or support gives me such peace of mind.
Marie’s work is nothing short of extraordinary. Her tireless dedication to helping animals is evident to everyone she meets, and the sheer number of lives she has impacted is truly admirable. I am so thankful to have stumbled across Loma Cat House and to know someone as compassionate and...
Read moreMy partner and I had a deeply upsetting experience with Loma Cat House. We had already been approved to adopt a cat, but when we asked basic and responsible questions about his health — such as whether he was up to date on vaccines (since the paperwork didn’t indicate it) — the owner became extremely rude and unprofessional. She cussed at us, told my partner he was the “biggest complainer/whiner,” and even hung up on him mid-sentence during a calm and polite conversation. This wasn’t a one-time issue — the handful of times my partner spoke to her (no more than four), she was consistently hostile and dismissive. When we asked for clarification about the cat’s medical records, she told us it was “none of our business” — which is shocking, considering we were preparing to take full responsibility for this cat’s care and well-being. In addition to this, the rescue itself was in appalling conditions. The cats were not living in a clean or safe environment. Many of the cats appeared to be suffering from respiratory issues and eye infections. These are clear signs of neglect and a lack of proper care, and it was heartbreaking to see. No one looking to adopt a pet — especially from a rescue — should be treated like this. We were simply trying to ensure the cat we wanted to bring into our home was healthy and cared for. The lack of transparency, professionalism, and basic respect is appalling. For the sake of the animals and the people trying to give them loving homes, the current owner should not be in charge. This rescue needs new leadership — someone who truly cares about the cats and treats adopters with kindness and respect. Marie, this message is specifically for you: Yes, I was the one who reported these concerns, which led to your surprise wellness check visit to the rescue. I will continue to report any further mistreatment or neglect of the animals in your care until you step down — if you don’t do...
Read moreI recently had a horrible experience with Marie at Loma Shelter she has allowed two cats to be abused and neglected and left in an abandoned house for 6 years, I asked Marie why she had allowed this to happen, and she said they had an owner, and the owner would give them food and water in this abandoned house, these two cats had not received medical care whatsoever and they have never been loved. One of the cats was recently very ill and no one wanted to help, so I caught the cat and took it to Marie and asked her to please take the cat to her vet, she did not and when I returned to check on the cat, the cat was worse the before, they shaved the cat like a chicken. Marie told me the cat was eating, that was a lie, the cat has mouth cancer, because of it's living enviornment for 6 years he is dying. What kind of person allows this to happen?
