One of my favorite places to explore in Grand Marais. Have so many unique and locally made gifts tucked away in lots of nooks and crannies. Not many places you can get a Gore-tex rain jacket (on sale!), a hard to find MN-themed jigsaw puzzle, local jam, winter no-slip dog boots, handmade pottery and jewelry from both local makers and Copenhagen. Also really respect how they've taken public health seriously.
To the folks complaining about prices, they stock really high quality items with prices comparable to anywhere else you'd find them but maybe Amazon... so the "same thing" around the corner is likely not the same, just similar with roughly the same purpose. Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed the outdoors and we have camped at the BWCAW for three decades or so. Every time we go there we always made a point of visiting this trading post. In addition to souvenirs, the store is quite complete and it carries lots of outdoor gears (and at reasonable prices). The people working there are always friendly and helpful. They also carry a good supply of maps of various routes and entry points to the BWCAW. To those who love the outdoor life, you will find lots of gears you never think you need in addition to eye candies in the store.
