I came up here alone, with 2 days of biking shuttle service booked. I never had to wait more than a few minutes for the shuttle, loading up was very fast (the shuttle vehicles hold 7 riders/bikes), and the drivers are all bikers so they were very helpful with giving me directions on where to find the good trails. I booked 2 days but my second day was rained out (they still ran the shuttle in the storm) and I gave up riding for the day, but they pro rated the price on a 3rd day of shuttle service which was nice (website says no refunds for rain outs, so pay attention to that).
Something I didn't expect, but was very nice to find, is people taking the shuttle are really good about getting into pick up groups at the top and riding down together. I rode with 3 different groups of people that I met at random on the shuttle who invited me to stick with them on the trails, which made things a lot more fun than riding solo. It sounds like this is pretty common with this shuttle service and something they encourage, which is a really good idea. I rode some pretty difficult trails that I definitely wouldn't have tried solo, but I was confident in doing with 3-6 other riders. Riding together also helps to reduce time that you're waiting for the shuttle.
I visited copper harbor a few years ago and did a mix of riding uphill (this is awful, don't even try unless you have an ebike or want to suffer) and having a friend be my shuttle. I got way more trail time by paying for the shuttle, with the added benefit that its a lot more fun to only ride downhill. My first trip here was also on a hard tail, and it beat me up pretty bad. KAC offers pretty good full suspension rentals and they sell them at the end of the season, replacing with new rental bikes in good condition. If you don't have a good full suspension bike (stumpjumpers seem to be the meta choice in copper harbor), its definitely worth renting one.
It does sound like this place gets quite busy in the summer, but my trip was late september and in the middle of the week, so they only had

With the exception of the occasional cross country hardtail rental, I never truly knew how much MTB was for me. A year ago soon after buying my first trail bike, I started researching all the must-ride midwest destinations for dirt lovers. After a ton of anticipation, I finally made it up to Copper Harbor. The best decision I made was to book a 2.5 hour time slot with Keweenaw Adventure Company and pay the two person minimum cost to secure a 1 on 1 guide. I initially wondered if that was an indulgent move, but was so glad that I splurged. My situation may seem niche, but it should be known to all the solo intermediate/advanced riders considering a trip to Copper Harbor that KAC has guides that will not only show you the trail systems, but can coach you on the advancement of your skillset and confidence. After 2.5 hours working with Jake, I felt tighter in the berms, faster on the decents, and more efficient in my climbing. By the end of the day, I was attempting features that were out of my comfort zone earlier that very morning. Having worked as a health coach in the past, I understand how challenging it can be to communicate multiple new concepts in a short period of time to a client, but Jake had a way of feeding me insights that were easily digested and instantly applicable, and because of this I left feeling as though I’d gained a season or more of riding experience in one action packed lesson/tour. I want to thank the KAC team for being so professional and friendly. Lena was super kind in the shuttle, Shelby was very patient and helpful with me on the phone with my laundry list of questions, and on my future trips up to the Keweenaw Peninsula, I hope I get to run into other members of this staff. Great times, great vibes,...

I availed their services for the shuttle a total of 4 trips. They have a 2 person minimum for the shuttle. Since I was by myself I had to pay for 2 people ($24 each) for my first two trips. However Raymond was nice and just charged me $12, for my last two trips. Which was very nice of him. I recommend to avail their shuttle services when in the area. They are also knowledgeable of the trails and have someone working in the shop, who you can talk to technically about the trails. A businesses reputation comes from doing things for the community and storing my bike for free, and offering me a discount for a couple of my shuttle trips, is why I am giving a 5 star rating for going out of their way to promote MTB & Mountain bikers who visit the area.
Regarding the trails, from my exploring, the trails near the mountain lodge (both beginner & intermediate), are rocky & rooty, but still flowy in some sections). The trail named "The flow" is also rocky in my opinion, and does not do justice to its name. However if you are looking for pure flowy trails, I suggest the Raptor ridge, Woopidy Woo & Garden Brook, which is where I experienced he most flow (at multiple sections). The end of the "Flow Trail", has a wooden berm, which requires paying attention. "Daisy Dukes" is another trail close to the end of the "Flow" trail. The "Edge" trail which has good views, but 6 wooden berms, that are not for the faint of the heart. The "Over Flow" is at expert level with steep rocky declines. There are sections where the decline was at 50...
